Dak had Beasley or Dez for 6 with 40 seconds to go!

and also what is up with Donnell being able to engage Byron Jones and throw him to the ground 5 yards into the end zone on a passing play? This was the game winner? How was there not a penalty?

It would have had to been the perfect pass for Beas to even think about catching it that far. He's like Twill in that he has to hit him right into the chest!

My bet is they said lets dink and dunk this thing all the way down!

Beasley catches everything in his catch radius. He's just got a short catch radius.

But that's an easy NFL pitch and catch if I've ever seen one. Dak just missed it. It happens.

He missed 2 passes that hit him in the hands, and one for a TD.

But I do agree that it does happen, meaning the miss. I'm sure Brady has a lot of open guys as well.

Ummmm what? Are you saying that TD throw Beasley dropped was not catchable?

Broaddus mentioned this in his notebook, though he thought it was Scandrick.
I don't know about you guys, but that pass from Manning to Victor Cruz for the game-winner sure looked like offensive pass interference. Larry Donnell came off the ball and destroyed Orlando Scandrick as he was trying to get inside to cover Cruz. I promise that will be a play that Jason Garrett sends to the league for their review and they will agree.

Lol. Exactly. They tell the QBs to ignore some of the receivers in the formation and to check it down underneath.

That's not how it works. This is validation that the plays we're calling actually do work when the execution is good. Not the opposite. Sheesh.

They won't tell him to ignore some of the receivers but given the situation I can see them telling him to get rid of the ball quick and don't get a sack.
I can definitely see them telling Dak to look for Dez first and if he isn't open look for Witt in this situation.

no it was an incomplete to witten, terrible throw. He almost led witten right into another spleen problem.

How he didn't see Beasley or butler is the head scratcher to me. he threw Beasley the ball all day.

My thinking is that Beasley and Dez had let him down a lot earlier on in the game, so no matter what the call of the play, they fell to the bottom of his read list and he went with the receivers that he had a better "feel" with. It happens. It's human nature. And with 40 seconds to go he took the first of his reads that was open. I know that we are supposed to think that Dez is "always open". But the fact of the matter is that all game long, he wasn't and at the point in the game, Dak is gonna go with what this game experience has taught him: Go with other receivers before checking to Dez or Beasley.

I think its pretty simple. He had to climb the pocket and move to his right and probably never looked down field. he saw witten flash in front of him and let it go.

We've both played football, right? What's it mean to you when a coach says 'get rid of the ball quickly and don't take a sack'? Because here's what I'd think when I hear stuff like that: "No ****?" Then I'd go out there and do what I'm supposed to do.

Nobody ever tries to hold the ball too long and take the sack, so telling them that isn't going to change what they do. They have a play. The play has routes. The routes are run by receivers. The open ones get the ball when the QB sees them. That's how it works. In this case, everything happens except the QB seeing it part. That's not on the play design or the route or the WR or the coaches. It's on the QB.

Good point. Generally, Beasely catches everything in his catch radius. He's reliable. But he blew that one, for sure.

I've played many sports ( football, baseball, basketball) up to college level (baseball). I've seen/heard coaches tell exactly that type of things to many players. It's not uncommon for coaches to remind players, especially rookies, what and what not to do in certain situations.
I've even heard JG tell Romo to becareful with the ball.

Did you already forget what happened at the end of the game with a four year vet? Do you think TWill wanted to end the game that way? Yeh nobody wants to but they do it anyways. Maybe a hard reminder may have helped TWill.

You just have to make Dez read 1 on ALL plays. Can't have this much money invested in a decoy...

WOW!

Oh, I've heard it hundreds of times, too. My point is that it's basically a platitude. The players are the ones who make (or don't make in this case) the plays.

I think if you are a vet, you probably have longer leash but rookie playing his first pro game will likely do what he is told.
