I get everyone is frustrated but he’s 26 games over 500 as a starting NFL QB and has two playoff wins. Go research how many QBs have won as many games as him over the past seven seasons. He led us to our first road playoff win in 30 years. He had possibly the best game of his career against Tom Brady on the road. Yes, he was up and down this past season but he’s still a much better QB than most teams have and he gives us a chance. If the OC change doesn’t improve him next season and his inconsistency continues then we have to start looking for a better option. I wouldn’t be opposed to drafting a QB at some point this April.
I can't argue with your points. All true. But a lot of people really don't care about all that. They don't think he's worth the money. Most people realize it's very difficult to nearly impossible to find a Joe Burrow in the draft. They just don't believe it's all that hard to find a Dak Prescott on a rookie deal. It could be worse, look at the Jets. But is it really worth it moving forward with this guy at 40+ million a year? For a couple of playoff wins every 7 years?

I get that it's a dilemma when you have a QB that is good but not elite. And at the same time have a HC and OC who are decent but not elite and not to even mention the front office. There are quite a few teams in the same situation. The most frustrating part is only drafting one QB in any of the first 3 rounds only once in 30 years and at the time making a 2nd tier QB the highest paid in the league. But it is what it is.
The going rate for a good QB is 40+ million and he was playing at a high level when he signed the contract. The price of a good QB is what it is.

I don’t think finding a Joe Burrow is all that difficult but finding of Patrick Mahomes is. It seems like all fans care about on this board is having a cheap QB even if they suck. I’ve seen Matt Ryan’s name pop up more than a couple of times as a replacement for Dak. It’s not about winning for some fans here. Some want to move on from every good player we have from Dak to Parsons.

The team won without Dak with an unremarkable backup. Doesn't matter how, they did.

So don't say being against Dak going forward isn't about winning. He's not the difference between winning and losing.

If we had a lesser QB we probably wouldn’t have two playoff wins over those seven seasons and may not have even made the playoffs. Some of you think it’s easy finding a generational QB. It’s not our fault KC struck gold with Mahomes. I’m convinced some of you would rather have a scrub at QB that was making peanuts even if it meant missing the playoffs every damn season. It’s become beyond tiring watching fans complain about Dak’s contract. Go build a team and sign a cheap QB and see if that makes you happy.
Well, Rush is pretty cheap and went 4-1.
Since the injury we now have a scrub at QB . Some haven't figured that out yet.

Dallas has drafted only 1 Qb in round 1-3 in the last 30 years. Zero in the last 20.

There is a reason we can’t find a SB caliber QB, we don’t try to.
Exactly! They always try to fill the most important position by going cheap! They seem tight when using a first round pick on a QB but they don't mind throwing away 1st rounders on Taco Charlton and tossing 2nd round picks away on projects like Jaylen Smith and that TE that was supposed to be some savior RedZone target for Romo.

You obviously don’t understand the nfl if you think that is going to be Dak’s cap hit next season
No but every time we restructure a bad contract it penalizes the team in future years. You don't just magically restructure with impunity.

IDK glim........honestly, I don't think it's as easy or automatic as we may think. His salary for 2023 is guaranteed at $31M. Once that's paid, there's only $34M nonguaranteed left on the contract. This is where the extension/restructuring talk can get tricky IMO coz it resets Dak's value. There's your $100M+ question.......what is Dak's current value???? We know he and Todd France won't consider anything below the previous $40M. Suppose Jerry and Stephen are thinking $40-42M and Todd France is thinking $48-50M. See, it's not as simple.....
I don’t care for Daks agent. He and JJ had a hand shake deal some years back and after we beat miami he pulled out of the deal. If he thinks Daks worth 48-50 a year with the int problem of late then we may take the hit and let him go. I see teams paying 42-44 for him maybe 46 if he straightened out the int issue. It’s a gamble because if he does improve on the picks and we go to SB his worth will jump and JJ will pay the money.

You actually think Rush gives us a better chance to get to a Super Bowl than Dak?

It matters a lot how they won with Rush. Our passing and scoring offense was dead with him and Lamb wasn’t producing as our number one. We shot to the highest scoring offense in the league when Dak returned and Lamb became a true number one. We were winning games with defense and our kicker when Rush was in the lineup.

You're right. But the Cowboys kind of backed themselves into a corner. In order to sign or extend players, do anything in FA, and sign rookies, they have to get the money from somewhere. Someone is getting released, restructured.

If they keep Dak at his current cap hit, there will be serious issues with this off season. It's a no win situation.
I would rather ‘pay the price’ now and give myself an out two years from now rather than digging the hole even deeper.
