Dez was at the end of the line when we released him which is why he was released. He didn’t leave and have almost 1200 yards with 9 TDs on a bad team that’s having QB issues. He did virtually nothing after we released him. No regrets at all about letting him go. Cooper is still one of the best receivers in the game and we traded him for a fifth round pick.
There was a reason the Raiders traded Cooper. He is a quitter. He stopped blocking the that SF game. He was a good player when they were throwing to him but his issue is what he was doing when he wasn't getting the ball. The 5 the round pick was not much but that's because they took over his contract of 20 mil a year.

If we had a lesser QB we probably wouldn’t have two playoff wins over those seven seasons and may not have even made the playoffs. Some of you think it’s easy finding a generational QB. It’s not our fault KC struck gold with Mahomes. I’m convinced some of you would rather have a scrub at QB that was making peanuts even if it meant missing the playoffs every damn season. It’s become beyond tiring watching fans complain about Dak’s contract. Go build a team and sign a cheap QB and see if that makes you happy.
Why is it so hard to understand that Dak just isn't the guy to deliver playoff success?

It isn't about a cheap QB1, it's about a guy who can win without everything built to prop him up.

It's about a QB who doesn't throw ints and can quickly read a defense, that isn't your boy Dak.

He's not rookie, but still plays like one. It's been 7yrs.

His contract sucks, because he's just not worth it.

Seems to me there where 31 QB's who miseed the mark and alot who missed the playoffs...when Herbert gets paid will you list me off his huge list of accomplishments? How did Russ "Cook" this year? what about Rodgers are we going to talk about his season 11 years ago now? Again there is a market, you dont have to like it but it includes way more QB's than just Dak.....
As another member posted in another thread, there is much to be said for QB's that led their team to a Super Bowl without having a big contract so why would anyone ever applaud Dak, at best the 10th-ranked QB in the league, for playing a mediocre season while currently counting as the #2 highest paid QB for 2023?

The fact is QB's are seriously overpaid and given only a few elite QB's are in the league I will never understand why a team would 'settle' for paying an average QB vast amounts of money only to see a lack of return on investment (i.e. Super Bowl appearance).

That's what happens when your contract is backloaded. Nothing to see here.

Dak made less than 20 million his first 2 years of his contract.

Just be glade with didn't do a Deshaun Watson type deal where he got 250 million fully guaranteed.
I don't pretend to know about the contracts because I really don't care.

But isn't the signing bonus all paid up front?

That would be another 66 million added to your less than 20 million.

I agree! But I don't think he would be worth it if he were only making 20 mil a season. He is just not good enough to win a championship.

Yep, that was somewhat established this season gone. The near disintergration once our running game went with Pollard's injury indicates we'd need enough spare CAP to ensure decent back-up's (as well as starters). If Dak can't step up in the face of in-game adversity we're gambling on luck or a star studded full Offensive roster.

Why is it so hard to understand that it’s going to be hard finding someone better than him? We’ve had some playoff success with him. We won a road playoff game for the first time in 30 years and it was against Tom Brady. Name me a QB that’s available that can win without everything built to prop them up? Dak has had one season where he’s thrown a bunch of INT’s and some of you are acting like this is what he’s been his entire career. What do you suggest we do at QB where we’re going to get better and not worse?

It was a mistake trading him and it was proven. Dumbest move Jerry has made since he’s owned the team.

You obviously don’t understand the nfl if you think that is going to be Dak’s cap hit next season
Yeah they will re-structure, or, trade him with a post June 1 designation. I would love to see him traded, but that’s a longshot.

And this is exactly how our ownership views it. Dak brings stability and a consistent playoff contender. That’s all Jethro and Son need to hype their iconic label and promote hope. Winning a championship would just be gravy,

It must stink going thru life not understanding anything?

Dak's contract can and will be reworked and he will count around 20 again this year.

Mahomes' contract cannot be reworked and he will count 50 mill.

Let me know if this is too much for you to get in one post.
The only way you get his 23 cap hit down to 20M is if you add more void years to the end, or, work in a long term extension… a full restructure, without more void years, would get it down to about 27M in 23.
