The only way you get his 23 cap hit down to 20M is if you add more void years to the end, or, work in a long term extension… a full restructure, without more void years, would get it down to about 27M in 23.
They will do an extension.

People will jump off buildings too...

Seems to me there where 31 QB's who miseed the mark and alot who missed the playoffs...when Herbert gets paid will you list me off his huge list of accomplishments? How did Russ "Cook" this year? what about Rodgers are we going to talk about his season 11 years ago now? Again there is a market, you dont have to like it but it includes way more QB's than just Dak.....
So your argument seems to be other teams have overpaid for mediocre QB play, so we shouldn't worry about doing the same thing.

Sorry, not seeing the justification here

The 'dude' was never competing head to head with Purdy. That entire narrative is media inspired hogwash. He was head to head with SF defense and nevermind the team dynamic of football.

In baseball, pitchers get similar treatment and before you go an claim different sports, consider that the differences makes the game of baseball more predictive and not less. Pitchers actually do for the most part go head to head with the batter.

Even then baseball, and football metrics, has demonstrated that pitcher/QB win totals are not predictive. The whole parity discussion should make that obvious.
The point he was making is... The rookie played better in a playoff game than the 7 year vet.

Well Purdy made it further in the playoffs than Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and many other quarterbacks that make more than he does, so what does this mean??

Is Purdy better than most of the quarterbacks with max dollar contracts??
Aaron Rodgers, Russel Wilson and Brady obviously have won in the Superbowl and have had more success than Dak or purdy. Dak is a 7 year vet and Purdy is a rookie and the rookie played better than the vet. Dak hasn't played poorly in the playoffs.

A lot of fans are making the claim the Cowboys can’t get over the hump because of Dak. A lot of fans were saying the same thing about Romo when he was our QB. Too many fans think it’s easy finding a better QB than what we have. They seem to think QBs like Mahomes grow on trees. Lol They’re either stupid or haven’t been following the NFL very long if they honestly believe that. As for this past season Dak was mainly responsible for the loss to San Francisco. However, if he didn’t play as well as he did the previous week we probably would’ve gone one and done. Until this season he had been a very consistent QB. He never had an INT problem until this season. The Cowboys problems are a lot deeper than just him.
He looked bad last year aganist SF in the playoffs. It is hard to find a great QB but it's impossible when kid yourself and think you can win a Superbowl with Dak. They should be drafting a QB every year try to find one they can develop.

I agree they should be drafting a QB but not every year, you can’t keep them all or give all of them opportunities to develop. Find one that you think has some potential that can give Cooper Rush a battle for the backup job. If they can become the backup they may get an opportunity if Dak gets injured.

Your 20m number seems to be a complete guess
It is because I didn't do the math. Looking at his 31 mill base salary, convert that to bonus money and spread it out over whatever the extension is. Closer to 20 than 49.

No justification but the fact is there is a QB Market, like I said you dont have to like it but that doesnt make it not there. Many more QB's with a huge nothing on the Resume will be paid this year, you are welcome to scream into the void all you want though.

Those are great points. Dak also outplayed many veteran quarterbacks his rookie year. Do you remember what Dak's record as a rookie was?

As a rookie, Dak also took Romo's (a veteran quarterback) job.

Romo broke his back in later Aug. 2016 and missed 10 weeks of the season but Dak took his job. lol The writing was on the wall for Romo given his age (36) and repeated injuries the few years prior to 2016.

Hey... they say one of the best abilities is availability.
