Understood.

The same thing happened with Romo.

Dak’s willingness or not to give something back should determine whether he stays after 2024 or not. At the same time for the same reason, as Jerry has stated recently, it would be wise to draft a QB this year (perhaps someone like Univ. of Houston's Clayton Tune in the 3rd or 4th round).

Impressive college career stats, especially the jump increase in production in 2021 and 2022:

Really like this QB, especially the more film one sees on him:

Hooker from Tennessee is my favorite right now.

Well, last time I checked a defense doesn't commit turnovers but rather causes turnovers.

That said, so you are blaming the defense because they didn't cause any turnovers while holding SF to 19 points (13 if not counting the points off the 2 Dallas INT's)? Interesting defense.
I meant "cause". Sue me for using the wrong word.

Absolutely. The 49ers D helped "cause" turnovers to help their team win, while our D "caused" 0 turnovers in our loss.

It's not that hard to figure out which D was better or more helpful. Once again, totally destroys your narrative.

Actually, the Dallas QB caused 2 turnovers with 2 piss poor passes that were intercepted.....but blame the defense all you wish but it does not make it true.

Why do you guys keep saying after 2024? Technically you are right coz the final 2 years are voided but at the end of THIS season, Dak will have no more guaranteed money left on his contract ($126M ). Now show me an NFL starting QB playing on a contract with NO guaranteed money.
In other words, UNLESS they add new guaranteed money, this is Dak's last year under his current contract. No way in hell Todd France will let him play in 2024 w/o guaranteed money.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/dallas-...cott signed a 4,dead cap value of $89,070,000.

They will extend or restructure. Not just Dak but several contracts. Hoping JJ will spend some money this year.

So it’s totally been our QBs fault? Romo had only two playoff wins in 10 seasons. The bottom line is the Cowboys haven’t had good enough teams. They wouldn’t even be able to contend with some of the QBs you listed.

top 5 highest paid qbs of 2022 did NOT make the playoffs, how about the top paid qbs to make the playoffs where did they finish? all but one was out at the same time... Comparing PM to anyone is useless as this thread.,. Hes in league of his own with the right coach and team.

Dak been in the playoffs 4 of his 6 healthy years made the 2nd round twice and if his OL and run game and OC showed up like pats did in the sb to run over the eagles d, add 2 TOS from their defense one was for TD correct and big punt return as well. thats great team play and how you win a SB

Im betting dak could win as well.
When you get into the playoffs the game speeds up and there is even more pressure. That's when the QB needs to show up too. The running game isn't working the QB needs to back those safeties up and hit some passes over the middle down field. Daks not threatening the defense because he is out of his comfort zone he needs to speed up his reads and get rid of the ball quicker. To me the biggest single factor that will prevent the Cowboys from going any further is Daks inconsistency.

They can restructure money into bonus in 2024 and the two void years 2025 and 2026.
The problem with 'JJ spend some money' is whether they spend it around Dak (or his successor). It may be a waste to spend on Dak, if the argument was that WR's (Hilton) were getting open, but Dak didn't target/couldn't find them.

Yep, Dak's your man when everything's going right (Bucc's and Eagles)....what's frightening is how he plays in stressful scenario's.

IDK glim........honestly, I don't think it's as easy or automatic as we may think. His salary for 2023 is guaranteed at $31M. Once that's paid, there's only $34M nonguaranteed left on the contract. This is where the extension/restructuring talk can get tricky IMO coz it resets Dak's value. There's your $100M+ question.......what is Dak's current value???? We know he and Todd France won't consider anything below the previous $40M. Suppose Jerry and Stephen are thinking $40-42M and Todd France is thinking $48-50M. See, it's not as simple.....

A dude that got outplayed by Brock Purdy in the playoffs has a larger cap hit than already top 5 GOAT (and rising) QB Mahomes.
I don’t remember Purdy doing anything, but hitting the ball off . Who did Prescott had to hand the ball off to?

"Dak's contract will be a bargain in three years".

I laughed when that was initially being put forth by the Prescott propaganda pushers, and I'm laughing now.

SF rushed for a total of 113 yards in the playoff game vs. Dallas....of which 48 of those yards came with 11:03 to go in the 4th quarter with SF up 16-12....in other words 42% of SF's total rushing yards came 1/3 of the way thru the 4th quarter (and of the 199 SF passing yards, 24% of those yards came during the same time period)....so let's not make it out that the Dallas defense didn't shut down the SF offense to the tune of 16 points allowed (10 if not including the 6 points off 2 Dallas INT's), 65 yards rushing, and 151 yards passing up until 11:03 to go in the game.

I've never seen an NFL QB who goes from looking like a top 8 guy to a guy ranked 28th. His performance against the better teams is just downright pathetic. And people actually start pointing fingers at everyone around him is just ignorance. The Cowboys would of beaten the 49ers had Dak played like Geno Smith did against them the week before. He didn't have to play great. The defense held the niners to under 20. That would of been a solid team win. Dak didn't hold up his end of the deal.
He completely choked just like the year before.

I still bang my head against a wall when I hear people say we HAVE to sign Dak now to free up more money....do these fools not realize that it's only locking us into several more years of futility??? Some of the people pushing for a new deal, are also saying he will never take us anywhere....I am at a loss. It will not hurt us to wait until this time next year to decide....DO NOT rush into something stupid!!!!!!!!

It must stink going thru life not understanding anything?

Dak's contract can and will be reworked and he will count around 20 again this year.

Mahomes' contract cannot be reworked and he will count 50 mill.

Let me know if this is too much for you to get in one post.

The only thing I read and gather in the above, is us being stuck with a limited QB until around 2028....no NFCCG's.....no Super Bowl appearances....no thanks!!!!!

Kurt Warner broke down film and disagreed. He correctly placed blame on Dak, the WRs, the pass designs/concepts and the playcalling. But, we all know that's too much information for you to understand.
