It's this year. Jones is a free agent and Hurts is eligible for his new deal.
Your excuses have reached the point of things that haven’t even happened.

That’s pretty desperate.

Dak had a 20m cap hit last year (on a 40m AAV) and Mahomes had 37m (on 45m AAV). When teams push cap hits into future years, what exactly did you think that meant? Did you think the restructuring made the hits vanish forever?
At least Mahomes made his cap hit worth it this year. That's why those QBs are worth it.

You realize every single other one of "those" were watching the playoffs by the time the conference championship game rolled around right? That is ignoring that while the QB is the most important piece they are still A piece and you need more than one player to win because plenty of teams have good QBs so you need to surround them with stuff.

Yep, all that gets talked about is AAV, but a 4 year vs 10 year deal makes a huge difference.
Can you imagine the crap we’d be hearing if Dak was signed for 10 years? LMAO. No one cares about the cap hit. He was less than 20 million this year. His detractors want to pay him 49 million this year because they want him gone. After he signs a restructured contract, his cap hit will be negligible. That was always the plan.

Agree……he deserves every bit of that 23% of the salary cap if he gets that amount

Fleece em dry Dak!……..you’ve earned it

make sure the status quo is preserved here
Fleecing Jerry like he fleeces the fans. Too stupid to realize. " He's my Quarterback".

Will see what Micah thinks when he asks the Cowboys to pay him as the best defensive player in the NFL. I guarantee he is not taking a home town discount.
He already said he planned on getting paid and didn't blame Dak. But, then again... fleecing the Cowboys is pretty easy. Surprised every player doesn't want to join the Cowboys lol.

Getting (a whole lot) less for more seems like the Dallas Cowboys way.

Sometimes to take a step forward you have to take a step back. Maybe let Dak go and roll with a cheap QB and you may get a good draft position or I would be fine with drafting a 1 st round QB even if it involves moving up in the top 5 by trading draft picks. It's the price you have to pay to take a risk on a top QB.
Agreed.

This is true for any quarterback. But I think the point of the person you quoted was missed. In that the chiefs can absorb Mahomes entire cap hit and still be top notch. We can't do that with Dak.

But the bigger issue with me was that totally inaccurate tweet in the OP.

A dude that got outplayed by Brock Purdy in the playoffs has a larger cap hit than already top 5 GOAT (and rising) QB Mahomes.
Dak got outplayed by Purdy and CMC, DeeBo, Aiyuk, Kittle, and the oline. Who did Dak have after Pollard went down? CeeDee Lamb.........that's it.

The 'plan' was kind of shot out of the water when it became apparent that Dak just doesnt appear to have the psyche or composure to perform under pressure (or when meeting in-game challenges). Even if his CAP HIT was 'negligible', how does that improve Dak? If he cant find Hilton, whom every talking head I hear says was repeatedly open, then signing a top receiver wont help?

Hilton? Names are names, just because you're a 'known' name means nothing.....most all talking heads mentioned he was open throughout the 9ers game.
