Here is my analogy of the debate about Dak as our QB..
It's sort of like you have a daughter. She is getting married. The guy does not make alot of money. You try to tell your daughter this and that she will probably struggle her whole marriage.
But she insists and she marries him. You end up helping raise the kids because they are always broke and you have to keep propping up their family with money under the table.
After time goes by, there will be a divorce and the daughter and kids move in with you and you have to be dad and father and provider constantly. You do it becuz you love your family but what you really want is to have the daughter find another guy who can get the job done and not need constant help.
Now..what am I saying?
Ok..
Dak is the needy son in law, he wants to succeed but he needs a ton of help. You as the owner GM like your son in law and want his daughter to be protected and taken care of.
So you spend like crazy to put players around Dak and pay DAK to succeed.
But it is a constant and ongoing process and things just do not get to a closure of a title for the team.
We did this once already with Romo. Jerrah is doing it again with Dak.
I am not a Dak hater. I am a Cowboy Lover.
I wish there was a better scenario but there is not.
So we as fans sit..and wait.
And worry and spit nails and debate.
Sound familiar?
Comments certainly invited..not trying to rile you guys up. Only get things in context using easily understood scenarios. The younger fans will have no clue what the hey I am saying.
You older guys know EXACTLY what I am saying.
A re-worded analogy.
You and your wife have a daughter. She is getting married to a lawyer who just passed the bar. You like
the guy. Your wife thinks he is the worst choice she could conceivably make.
She gets married anyway. She and her husband, who your wife dislikes, adopt a whole mess of kids. All
boys. Your wife likes some of the new kids. She cannot stand some of the others.
A few years go by and you make the decision of making your son-in-law a partner of your law firm. It is a
huge decision but you make it because you 'know' it is the right one. Your daughter and son-in-law
move into a MUCH bigger house than the one they had before. Your wife loves and dislikes visiting her
daughter at her home. She adores seeing Teddy, Mark and Sonny. She throws up in her mouth seeing
John, James, Chris, Bob, Joe, Maurice, Todd, Sam and Billy. Just a little vomit, times each grandchild.
What am I saying?
Alright.
Prescott is the son-in-law Jones has loved since shortly before November 2016. Jones has been one
hundred percent committed with Prescott, just as he once was with Romo.
Jones supports every roster acquisition he makes to help Prescott succeed, just like he finally began
doing with Romo before kicking him to the curb for Prescott. Jones is fully invested in helping Prescott
succeed. His way.
So Jones throws monopoly money at a few players he feels are good enough to be stars for his team--
under the right conditions he foresees can happen. He has anticipated paying Prescott as a franchise
quarterback ever since the day he decided Prescott was a franchise quarterback back in midseason of
2016.
It has been a 30-year gambling style that has lingered well-before Prescott and Romo. Jones has been a
gambler since well-before he bought the franchise. Jones 'knows' his way works. He 'knows' his
way worked when Johnson and he were partners. He 'knows' his way should have worked every day in
the decades since their partnership was severed. He still 'knows' his way will work today, tomorrow
and every day he enjoys life but it has been a LOOOOONG time since Super Bowl XXX.
In short, deja vu.
You guys cope with the reality that has always been Jerry Jones all along. That is why CowboysZone is
there. For you. To cope with what you cannot control.
Any of you men, women and even children, who have read the unceasing gnashing of teeth, that has
been posted annually, monthy, weekly, daily and amazingly sometimes hourly since 2004, know
exactly
what I am talking about.
