I’m being dishonest? Okay. Carter was drafted in 2001, the year after Aikman retired. All the other QBs you mentioned were either here or after Carter was drafted. I didn’t say you were the only one who stated Dak is irreplaceable, nor did I directly said you stated it. I am pointing out the narrative of Dak being irreplaceable is false. I’m pointing out that Dak is the latest of a long line of QBs that have not been the guy to get Dallas past the the divisional round. So:
Carter, Stoerner, Hutchison, Wright, Cunningham, Leaf, Hensen, Vinny, Stephens, Banks, Bledsoe, Romo, Rush, Dak, Lance all have a 4 combined playoff wins in 23 seasons.

My point is we are still in the post Aikman QB purgatory. Dak is the shiniest of the crew but still isn’t the guy. Holding onto someone who is not the guy will only prolong the purgatory.
I get your point. I just don't agree with it.

Our lack of playoff success since Aikman is not because of the QB position.

No one would never sit here and say we only won rings because of Aikman. Yet, you're making the argument the QB position is why we haven't won.

Yes, we haven't had playoff success. Yes, Romo and Dak should've played better.

But let's also remember that Trent Dilfer, Eli Manning(TWICE), Nick Foles, Brad Johnson are all Super Bowl champions.

I bring up those names to say that you're never one player away from winning.

Cowboys have had some underlying issues that were much deeper than QB.

Dak was horrific in both Niners games and the GB game. He didn't even give his team a chance to win. Congrats, Dakota, you beat an 8-9 Bucs team with Brady having one foot out the door and that won the division by having to beat a Carolina team with an interim head coach late in the season. He was mid against the Rams and played well against Seattle, which was all the way back in 2018. Dak started out very slow against GB in 2016 trailing 21-3 and threw a crucial redzone pick, which ended up being the deciding factor in the score. He simply crumbles under pressure in the playoffs. That pretty much sums up Prescott's playoff history, and he wants 60 million or perhaps more? LOL.

It'll be the usual excuses for the quarterback everyone else will be blamed
I highly doubt you would blame others lol.

It's gonna be the same crap we've seen for the pats 7 years. It's gonna be black and white. One side is gonna say he sucks. The other side will alleviate blame.

Ok cool. You get my point but don’t agree with it. We agree to disagree. I totally respect that. I do firmly agree that we have some underlying issues that are deeper than the QB. This is the sole reason why I don’t want to sign Dak to 55-65 million APY. If Dak resigned for 40 APY then I’m in. Because I feel the 2 underlying issues that are deeper than the QB is culture and the trenches. A lower QB cap hit won’t affect culture, obviously. But a lower QB cap hit can help with fixing the trenches.

I’m at the point where I’d rather embrace the unknown at QB and shore up the trenches than pay a lot more for the known QB and have weak trenches.

If Prescott doesn’t accept Jerry’s offer it’s not a matter of the Cowboys letting Dak go. It’s Dak decided to leave.
How can you verify that Jerry has made an offer?
You cant................I believe NO offer has been made to Inepto's agent.

I can’t say that because there was a time when Dak was counting 800k against the cap….hell even last year his cap hit was 20 million. The underlying issues were still there. Even having 9 All Pros. Now I’ve been saying culture has been an issue but mismanagement of roster is there as well. It’s 2024 and they still don’t understand how important the trenches are. Well they did draft Bebe and Guyton….thats a step.

Yeah that he needs to win playoff games before he can be given a big contract extension.
It’s silly logic. Even if he won a SB he shouldn’t just be given a contract for it. Contracts should be foreshadowed not reactionary deals.

Makes better sense than extending him outright even when he hasn't been able to win in the post season.

Dak will be scrubbing toilets for a living within a year if there's any justice in the world.
These comments are just ridiculous, between being franchised tag two times in a row, multiple endorsement deals, and working on his 3rd NFL contract, the dude has literally made hundreds of millions of dollars.

He could retire tomorrow and go lay on the beach all day for the rest of his life and his great grandchildren will still be living off what he has already made, so lets not pretend the dude is going to have to scrub toilets to pay the rent:facepalm:

Now back to reality..................I think he will be a Raider next season, they are one of the few teams that have the cap room to pay Dak $60 mill, they got some good offensive talent like Devonta Adams, and they got a fairly good defense.

This has absolutely nothing to do with football but if he is smart with his money then this literally is true. He could retire and with smart financial savvy his grandchildren wouldn’t have to work. His grandchildren could sit on the beach their whole lives.

A couple days ago there was a thread about Jerry giving CD financial advice. I hope for all our players, whether I’m happy with them on the field or not, Jerry advises them on financial savvy so they aren’t broke ever. Again, nothing to do with on field play but off the field my hope is everyone who wears or wore a star is set up for life. Hearing Terrell Owens is broke made me sad. That’s the fate I don’t want any of our players to have. Or anyone in the NFL for that matter.

Exacty.............same thing happened to Vince Young, dude made millions in the NFL after winning the national title at Texas, but he trusted the wrong people with his money and a couple of bad investments wiped him out.

He now works as an assistant coach in the athletic department back at UT now, I have seen him on the sidelines at home games (along with Mathew McConaughey).

Just sad how it all worked out for Vince:(

Right. These guys trust the wrong people. That’s why I get excited that Jerry helps our guys. Jerry, who is a billionaire, isn’t going to steal money from Dak or Lamb (or any other Cowboy), Jerry’s got his own money. TO, Young, Vick, those stories make me sad. There’s a lot of leeches and bad people in the world. It sucks when these guys get swindled out of their money.

Well he better buy a good toilet scrubber while he still has his millions.

Disgruntled Cowboys fans would like to believe that. They desperately cling to the notion Jerry Jones can affect some degree of retribution from Dak for a playoff loss that brought him to tears. Do you know why Dak can be outspoken about Jerry? It’s because Jerry has two choices with Dak. Pay him over $1.7 million per game to play this season or release him outright. I believe Dak would prefer to be released right now, but releasing him triggers an adverse cap scenario and forfeits a third round comp draft choice in 2026 when Dak signs elsewhere. So Jerry keeps Dak as QB1. Dak’s agent has done a wonderful job for him. And if Jerry has not offered Dak a contract, which I doubt is true and so do you, it would be because he fears negotiating with Todd France. I would consider that sound wisdom on Jerry Jones’ part, but I don’t believe Jerry is that smart. If Dak is “Inepto” that would make Jerry Jones an outright idiot in comparison. All the bravado in the world from Jerry Jones or any fans can erase the fact that Dak Prescott and his representation have, to date, done a masterful job handling the business aspect of Dak’s playing career. Jerry Jones and his front office have done a terrible job handling the business aspect of Dak’s playing career.

Yep, Jerry got caught in the Todd and Dak trap and the Pity factor from the injury (oh my what a nice boy that Dak is) and gave him his 1st bag.
After 3 yes 3..........CHOKE JOBS in the playoffs our fans have lost faith in Prestrash he's setting the stage for Dak to fail big and then get the heck out of dodge!
We're 6 days away from week 1 keep hoping and praying this Billionaire will make the same mistake twice.
