Dak was horrific in both Niners games and the GB game. He didn't even give his team a chance to win. Congrats, Dakota, you beat an 8-9 Bucs team with Brady having one foot out the door and that won the division by having to beat a Carolina team with an interim head coach late in the season. He was mid against the Rams and played well against Seattle, which was all the way back in 2018. Dak started out very slow against GB in 2016 trailing 21-3 and threw a crucial redzone pick, which ended up being the deciding factor in the score. He simply crumbles under pressure in the playoffs. That pretty much sums up Prescott's playoff history, and he wants 60 million or perhaps more? LOL.
Great great take. This should be copied and pasted on every Dak post.

Only someone who hates Dak and hasn’t a clue about football would claim it’s pure fantasy for him to have postseason success with another team. The Cowboys haven’t had postseason success dating all the way back to Troy Aikman‘s final few seasons with the team. Our lack of postseason success the last two plus decades hasn’t been because of our QBs. The Joneses are the reason for our lack of postseason success. Put Dak on a team that’s more committed to winning and doesn’t have a couple of jugheads running it and he’ll have postseason success. We’ve had players leave the past few years that have ended up in Super Bowls with other teams. What’s frustrating is postseason Cowboys. The team we see in the playoffs is never the team we see through most of the regular season, especially the defense. Some of you either can’t recognize that or are in denial over it.
More than likely Dak craps his pants next playoff outing . But I’m sure it’ll be the popcorn vendors Fault

Not quite. What I’m doing is fighting the narrative that the Dak Prescott era has been some magical historical run in Cowboys history. I’m fighting the narrative if we lose Dak we will be a bottom feeding team until we find another Dak. That is simply not true because we made the playoffs with Quincy Carter 4 years after Aikman retired. So the narrative that some put out as an argument to keep Dak so we do not go into QB purgatory is false. Here’s why:
Quincy Carter era: 4 years, 0 playoff wins
Tony Romo era: 10 years, 2 playoff wins
Dak Prescott era: 8 years, 2 playoff wins
The Dallas Cowboys since Aikman retired: 23 seasons, 4-10 playoff record.

The narrative that Dak is irreplaceable is false. This is not the end of some magical run but the continuation of failing at replacing Aikman, and Dak is just the latest QB to not be the guy.
Well for one I’m not the one who made the argument of QB purgatory.

But you’re being dishonest about this argument.

We did not go from Aikman to QC to Romo.

You’re missing Stoerner, Wright, Cunningham, Leaf, Henson, Hutch, Bledsoe, Vinny……mind you they double backed to QC when Parcells came.

The argument that Dak isn’t replaceable is not something I’ve said. I think everyone is replaceable but Mahomes.

But my stance has always been what can i do to build a winner. Am I closer to winning with Dak or without. I think they are closer with him. If they decided to rebuild? I’d understand that too.

But the last thing this team needs is to rush things which is what happened in the 2000s. They wasted capital on guys like Henson and Hutchinson to cheat their way into a franchise QB and it failed just like they are doing with Trey Lance.

He is getting paid. 54 million this year and another 40 million in dead salary next year even if he plays for someone else.
Tanking would be stupid; guys don’t tank as they enter free agency.
He’s getting paid $29 million between now and the end of the season if he’s on the roster for all 17 regular season games. Other numbers regarding cap management are just how the Cowboys elected to handle his compensation. It’s really none of Dak’s business.

I agree 3 12 win seasons in a row ,is great but something happens to Dallas when they get to the playoffs .Last year against GreenBay , it was the lack of Linebackers .The defense could not get off the field . But Dak did not play well early in the game ,when he did play better later it was gameover.Linebacker depth was neglected by the Jones boys you can't deny that.

Tom Brady admitted years ago that he hated the Cowboys. He grew up a 49ers fan. By the way, Brady never had the choice to come to Dallas. The Cowboys weren’t interested.
there is a saying, the cat couldn't reach the meat on the counter, he said it rotten. the cowboys weren't interested because they knew they didn't have a chance.

You must not have seen all of Romo‘s playoff games to say he didn’t look like absolute trash. He looked like complete garbage against Minnesota in 2009. He had a couple of picks and a lost fumbled. He had a couple of other garbage performances in season finale elimination games against Philly in 2008 and Washington in 2012. Dak has never looked like absolute trash in any playoff game, except maybe the 49ers playoff loss in 2022. That was clearly his worst playoff performance.
Thats like saying Mahomes looked like trash in the 2020 super bowl. No one looks good when your OL breaks down. As far as 2008 and 2012, who cares? Those teams sucked. Those teams weren't playoff teams. Didn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Quit it. Now I have that stupid Annie song stuck in my head.:)

Depends. I have no reason to believe the Cleveland's defense will not come out and try smashing Dallas' offensive heads into the concrete. Cleveland's offense versus Dallas' defense is a good matchup.

Cowboys win if the team's intensity matches the Browns'. If they do not, well...
Tomorrow, tomorrow the sun will. Lmao. Gonna be a tough first test for us. Would rather watch us against giants every year for opening game..

I’m being dishonest? Okay. Carter was drafted in 2001, the year after Aikman retired. All the other QBs you mentioned were either here or after Carter was drafted. I didn’t say you were the only one who stated Dak is irreplaceable, nor did I directly said you stated it. I am pointing out the narrative of Dak being irreplaceable is false. I’m pointing out that Dak is the latest of a long line of QBs that have not been the guy to get Dallas past the the divisional round. So:
Carter, Stoerner, Hutchison, Wright, Cunningham, Leaf, Hensen, Vinny, Stephens, Banks, Bledsoe, Romo, Rush, Dak, Lance all have a 4 combined playoff wins in 23 seasons.

My point is we are still in the post Aikman QB purgatory. Dak is the shiniest of the crew but still isn’t the guy. Holding onto someone who is not the guy will only prolong the purgatory.

Can you imagine the anarchy in here if our QB craps the bed in Game 1? I honestly have no idea what to expect, but if I was to guess? I still have no idea, but if Watson lights up our D and our QB fails? Head for the exits folks, it will get ugly real quick

Mahomes did look terrible in the 2020 Super Bowl but that’s what happens when everything gets thrown on your QB and your team is being manhandled. Had that been Dak the haters on this board would’ve been trashing him. Many were picking the Cowboys to go to the Super Bowl in 2008. We went 13-3 the year before. The team didn’t perform and Romo had his problems in December. In 2012 we could’ve won the NFC East in week 17 and got beat. Romo and the defense had a horrible game.

The Cowboys weren’t interested because they were happy with Dak. They weren’t interested in a 42-year-old QB.

If we make the playoffs and things don’t go well, again you can bet the entire team didn’t play well. When the team around Dak plays well he plays well.
