This is true. But Dallas didn't hire him in '05. They hired him after he was a successful head coach. I just don't want Dallas to be beta testing these coordinators.

As far as OC over DC if they're going that route, I would agree. That's seems to be the popular theory. Then hire a good DC.

I look at Fangio Zimmer Quinn Brian Flores etc and the next Dallas HC preferably from the OC background possible former HC can go out and hire a DC . The Cowboys with so much riding on the fortune paid out to 88 & 4 need an offensive headman to untangle a very inconsistent offense .

"Amongst more influence," and "on his terms."

Thats telling...

I was ready to tell Dak to be quiet, but this is yet another demonstration of how dysfunctional we are.
I was about to post the same thing. Like most of Jerry’s head coaches Big Mike is handcuffed by the crazy old coot upstairs. All this losing and failure falls on Jerry and Jerry only. You reap what you sow. May Stephen Jones take a lesson and hire and real GM and may he stay in his lane as a real owner. Or just sell the team.

Jerry is averse to change, and it looks like Dak shares that scenario, also.

Fans favoring a winning remainder of the 2024 will be witness to a repeat.

I'm saying this, because winning for the rest of 2024 can make that occur.

I would bet Dak was referring to the Lance trade. Lance clearly can't play, Mike wasn't consulted about it, and I'm sure Dak didn't appreciate the competition.

I would say the Zeke signing also except that's Dak's BFF so he probably didn't mind that one even though Zeke is beyond washed.

Don't worry though, we'll lose some more games and Mike won't be back. That's Jerry's whole sales pitch for 2025.

If anybody knows about getting s ocntract extenions when they aren't worth it, it's Dak...

Kellen Moore is no longer here and MM is calling plays. You still sucked when you faced a good defense. Two years in of MMs hands on the offense, you look even worse. Hurts on the other hand is beating good teams with Moore. And yeah, he does have a good roster, But so did you, but you still couldn't beat a good team.

Yep. Crazy old coot Jerruh, for sure.
Dakota's out of his depth making comments like this. There are still folks who fail to understand that the Position Description for HC of the Cowboys isn't the same as it is for the other 31 NFL teams.

I wonder if Big Mike's agent approached Jerry about an extension around Thanksgiving of the 2023 season. They would have been better served getting the deal done before the playoffs started. That would have been my goal. As soon as the team clinched the 3rd consecutive playoff berth, I would have asked Jerry to complete an extension.

Now, I can't see how Mike gets a new deal. Even if they miraculously won out to go 10-7, I just can't see it happening.

On his terms? Oh I’d like an explanation on this. Was there a follow up question to that? If not that is an absolute failure by the interviewer. That should’ve yielded some meat and potatoes info there.
i'd assume not being a lame duck at the whims of jerry.
