I'm one of the biggest (get rid of Dak) people out here after supporting this loser for years, but think like Dak for a moment. No matter what you think of his talent/s, you did have outstanding records a large part of his career. Jerry gave you two outstanding contracts. Why would you quit the team, why would you take a paycut, why would you retire, and so on? Fans want him gone, I get it, but he's not thinking like all of the billionaires on this forum are thinking. Just give away millions because a bunch of school teachers and truck drivers want him to. LOL

I mean he can, and if he has another bad year next season he probably should.... but he won't. His loyalties lie with the "NFL QB fraternity". He's trying to pull his weight by maximizing profit, even if it is to the detriment to the team that he "leads". Business first mentality. Way of today's world. Some guys want to win championships, some guys want to win the money game. QB1 learned from the best of the latter, **cough cough*** Jerral Wayne Jones ***cough**.. Is what it is at this point.

He shouldn't. It's not like Jerry would use the extra money if he did. Remember Dak was on a rookie deal for four years. His highest paid year was his 4th year at 2.5M. That's almost a free QB by NFL standards. Jerry did not deviate from his process. You know how Brady took a little less because he wanted to win. He wouldn't do it here because Jerry would just pocket the excess. He doesn't try to stack the team. He builds through the draft and pays his own drafted players. On occasion trade for fringe players that used to be really good.

That's hilarious. I hope you don't really think a greedy arse turd like Dak would EVER consider taking a pay cut. If anything, he might end up holding out for a bigger bag should Brock Purdy end up with a contract better than his.
I was not happy upping Dak's compensation either considering his post season struggles along with the team and management. However no need to vilify him in the extreme either. He has restructured his contract in the past to make more cap space room. I think we need to get back to the days where you draft or trade to get a talented first round quarterback. The lunatics running the Cowboys asylum too frequently go bargain hunting in the lower ranks and college divisions. I also think McClay may need to go and with greater certainly some of the scouts in that department need to be purged.

The agents and owners are on board with current salary percentages...why is this so an issue unless rage baiting.

This board is grifting and had work to do.

Say what you're really trying to say, don't be scared, you're not slick lol
You know what they're trying to say. You know threads and people get shutdown when we talk about the true undertones of some people's opinions and biases on this board. Calling people "scared" ain't gonna change that... you ain't slick.

There is hope…

2025 cap hit is 89M+

32 percent of our team cap.

but…

March 2026. has to be done early.

POST-6/1 RELEASE

2026 Dead Cap: $28,005,000
2027 Dead Cap: $34,000,000
2026 Savings: $39,691,666

lets go Lance!
So here's the thing, and I'm no contract expert, but I know with 100% certainty that they are going to restructure that contract and all those numbers are going to change drastically...for the worse.

Well said. The sofa soldiers on this board seem to think all of this is a game with no consequences built on pixie dust to satisfy their pathetic need to live vicariously through the accomplishments of athletes. Yet those hits leave very real damage to those athletes bodies long after they are forgotten about by the fans.

Temporary adoration from fans does not pay medical bills, tuition, mortgage etc. The real world runs on money and it does not give a rats arse about what you did in a game 25 years ago. Athletes better make the money while they can. If Jerry and the other owners were so worried about what is best for the team they could take less of a share of revenue to expand payroll for their employees during collective bargaining.

But hell no they will never do that. So why should athletes take even less money after collective bargaining during contract negotiations? Some small minded fans have no idea how business negotiations and true budgetary constraints work. They also don't understand the future value of money.

All some disgruntled fans do is fall for the post collective bargaining propaganda set by owners which is the sob story crab mentality of pressuring players to take less money due to a manufactured salary cap that they themselves created. With that being said, revenue sharing is where the argument for how much the players should get is debated and settled. It is not up to any player to rehash this debate during their own individual contract negotiations. But the low brow fans will keep falling for the crab mentality propaganda.

Players don't voluntarily take pay cuts. Pay cuts happen when a player's guaranteed money is basically paid and taking less money with the current team is better than being cut by that team and getting much less elsewhere. Dak has way too much guaranteed money coming to him to even remotely consider a pay cut.

Look at Russell Wilson as an example. Denver owed him so much guaranteed money that he could go play for peanuts in Pittsburgh.

He needs decrease to 45-50 a year max. Is that possible for him to redo and take less? Management needs to demand he redo it. Otherwise we are screwed for 4 years.
how does that make sense? are you employed? are you going to walk to your boss's office and say, reduce my salary and what you pay me until the company is in better position.

this is utterly the most stupid statement of the week.

I assume you are saying this because you think we need the money for FA, otherwise why would you say something this idiotic.
and what are you going to do with lets say the 10M you get on the cap? we had 23M on the cap this year. did we spend it? did we make a play for Barkley or Henry? no we signed zeke because he was cheaper. next year we can easily end up with 70M on the cap....do you think its going to happen? are we going to sign any FAs?

Of course he can, but he won't, he's asking fake as a 3 dollar bill and now will be oft injured and inaccurate.

I would not be shocked to see him dropped with a massive cap hit late next year
can you please translate what you just said? looks like a lot of jibberish after your 10th beer.

Asking was a typo - should be acting....other than that it is accurate, guess you have challenges reading which isn't surprising since it looks like you are from Houston. Bless your heart

If you present yourself as the leader of the team, and you say "I don't play for money, never have cared for it", knowingly taking a prohibitive contract opens you up for criticism. I didn't criticize him in my post. I'm over it. I laid out the facts as they've been presented. You, on the other hand, have come at me sideways throwing out smoke and fire like I've kicked your dog. Please, enlighten me on what it is that I said that isn't true. I'm all ears my guy.
