Not just Romo.

Dak now has the worst playoff record for any QB that has at least 5 playoff starts.
Not that being "one of" the worst is anything to brag about, but Alex Smith and Billy Kilmer were also 2-5. So Dak's not the worst.

But it's interesting to note that Peyton Manning went 0-1 in the playoffs NINE times. Remove his one SB winning year, his playoff record is 10-13. And he's in the HOF. Dak ain't been good in the playoffs but Peyton's record shows winning in the playoffs isn't that easy....

Peyton's main road block was the Brady's Patriots.

We're getting beaten unrecognizable by the last team in. Big difference.

Dallas was ahead at halftime correct?
Worse in terms that they were 13-3 and the #1 seed in the NFC.

So the expectations were sky high.

Does anyone really think the team Dallas had this year was going to the SB? After losing to the Bills and Dolphins just a couple of weeks ago? No. I would hope not.

I do agree there was the expectation of at least winning the game against the #7 seed GB at home.

But that should have been the extent of it.

and 3 of the 4 Romo era losses could've easily been wins

--Seattle: starting QB playing special teams....has never happened again in nearly 20 years. Of course, the rules also changed on special teams balls, so the home team couldn't mess with them. Each team has their own ST balls now

--Giants: perfect game-winning pass to beat the Giants, but Crayton broke his route

--Packers: Dez catch. Maybe we win, maybe not, but that was down to the wire.

Oh well...it was what it was. Coulda-woulda-shoulda

What sets this year apart from 2016 and 2007 is that we had a VERY experienced QB playing the best ball of his career this year.
Romo and Dak both improved greatly later in their careers vs their first full years as starters.

All three were bad losses (any home playoff loss is bad) but you also have to see how the team you lost to ended up doing.
  • 2007 loss was to the eventual SB Champ....so EVERY playoff team they faced lost to them
  • 2016 loss was to a team that got destroyed the very next week
  • 2023 loss is TBD

Romo: 2-4
Dak: 2-5

In b4 someone says "but, team game" QBs usually get the majority of credit when they win. They should also get the lionshare when they lose. They're the highest paid player on the field and it's not even close.
Extend him now!

And this is relevant because?

Manning's biggest problem was beating Tom Brady. Dak's losing to qbs like Purdy and Love.

Romo missed 36 games during his career. That's over 2 full seasons. Dak definitely has him beat on fitness and health.

To me they're more or less the same QB overall on a scale from 1 to 100.

Even then, Romo missed the bulk of those games after he turned 35. They're pretty close in that regard at this stage of their careers.

Manning won 2 super bowls. You're really comparing Dak to a guy who won 14 playoff games?
