lol...you lie like a dog! Romo is gone.

Dak is the QB we have to root for. The season is going to good so far for him and the team to screw up now.
Naw….if we had Romo we would win a SB even though he never won anything worth a damn lol.

Romo is more physically talented. Better arm and accuracy. Dak has the better roster and coaching. Both crumble under pressure.
So give me pedigree! I'll take Eli Manning who played under pressure and beat the GOAT.
how is Romo more accurate then Dak? eye test?
How Does Dak have a better roster?

give me the Giants defensiveline that year and I take it. defense wins championships.

A friend of mine asked me my thoughts on this subject. I asked a few friends and was a bit surprised by their reaponses. So I figured I’d ask the board. Who is the better QB?
2014 Romo and team would kill this team.. we couldn't stop that run game and we could stop the run...now Romo and this team, he'd have the same problem he had most years, defense.

so with Romo its other players choking, but with Dak, its him messing up not the teammate? my point was not that romo choked, but that its a double standard by some. coming up with excuses on why we lost with romo, but bashing Dak endlessly when the team loses.
Makes sense. And Romo definitely choked some games. I just highlighted those two games as I don’t think those losses fall on his shoulders. He has plenty that do though.

Romo was infinitely better. Not even close.
Dak this season will pass Romo in playoff appearances and most likely wins too. If Romo was infinitely better than that wouldn't be true

Romo.

Romo had Wade and Garrett as his head coaches and Jerry (“we don’t need an offensive line we have Romo”) still having significant say in the personnel decisions prior to Will McClay.

Romo’s problem was he seemed to be snake-bit. He never had the offensive line or the defense (the trenches) come together at the same time. Even in 2014, where he was arguably better than MVP Aaron Rogers, the defense was middle of the pack and the team lost on the most controversial overturned reception in the game.

during his time Romo had flozell adams, Tyron Smith, Gurode, Free, Davis, Colombo, Fred and Martin. there was a short period (2009-2011) that we had average OL and our records suffered as a result, but most of his career he had a good OL. he played with Tyron since 2012, Fredrick starting in 2013, marting in 2014, 2015....... Free was the RT most of Romo's time in Dallas, who is similar to Steele. so this notion of Romo didn't have OL is totally false.

For me it is easy - Romo.
I know many here are saying that neither have done anything to this point where Dak still has a chance so even, but I beg to differ. Hear me out.

1. Romo became a starter in 2006 and didn't have a "real" OL until his 8th year as a starter (2013). That is currently how long Dak has even played as QB for the Cowboys. And we all know that Jerry never really put much effort into the trenches at OL (or DL really) until late into Romos career but by then Romo was consistently battered physically. Pretty much Jerry wasted much of Romo's career by putting so little interest in the OL. Here is a good reference for starters historically: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/dal/lineups.htm
2. Romo has had a much better sense of pressure and better as escaping pressure. If you have watched Romo over the years, this would not be hard to see. Nothing against Dak really as Dak isnt too bad in this area, just that Romo was houdini sometimes with slipping in and out of tacklers. seemed to have better eyes in the back of his head.
3. Romo was better at reading defenses. If you ever listen to him now call a game, and yes for many it can get to be annoying but a skill nonetheless, you can listen to his knowledge of the game and what defenses are gonna do. He does know the game very well.
4. Romo IMO was better at scanning the field and finding multiple open receivers, he was able to scan the field faster than Dak. I actually think this is Dak's biggest weakness is his ability to find all his open receivers hence the reason Lamb gets 80% of all the passes thrown his way.
5. Romo never really had the level of talent we have now

"If Romo was that much better, then why didnt he do anything?" you may ask and it is a valid question, but I believe he didn't do anything because the talent on his teams (particularily OL because that is vital IMO) was never as good as it is today. The level of talent was lacking, chemistry was never aligned right, the coaching staff always seemed subpar, and the Cowboys culture seemed to get in the way of real success.

Dont get me wrong here and call me a Dak Hater, because I am not. If you followed my posts at all you would not find anywhere near the fustrations I see others have with Dak and yeah I do have those at times with Dak as well. He can play some really great games, but then go out next week and act like he dont belong. I think he needs to work on consistency, like never take any game for granted and play lights out no matter who he plays against. He also really needs to work on scanning the field when he goes back to pass and do it faster. This is the reason the west coast offense is better for Dak because it doesn't ask him to wait out all the receivers to complete their route and then find out which one is open while doing so, but still is a weakness.
I guess the question is that we all care about now is: Can Dak and this team today be good enough to win it all? Are we good enough to be the best? Sometimes it feels like the answer would be I guess it depends on which week you ask me. I think there still is an element of the culture that still makes this team a question mark, a loosely bonded group of talent who can lose focus occasional weeks, but then other weeks you find them gather enough guts to grind out a tough win and some of them big wins. IMO it definitely has enough talent to get to and even win a superbowl, but it has to be more consistant and play EVERY SINGLE WEEK as if the opponent slapped their mama, know what I mean? focus focus focus and never lose it. Play as a team of brothers who you would go to war with, consistancy!

Well I guess i got a little carried away from the original question so I will stop here.

Romo's 8th year as starter was first year with real OL and that was with rookies for most part. by that time, you could see the wear in his body/play. It was too late for this team and Romo. It would be unfair to compare the benefits of Romo's last 5 years to Daks first 8 years (so far) especially when all aspects of this team and its talent level has been so much better for last several when compared to all of Romos career.
I am not bashing Dak. I think he can do something with this team, but yeah he needs to work on consistancy, his ability to see the open receivers, and speed at doing so.

This is like asking do girls like big or small. At the end of the day, none of it matters. The only thing that matters is a title/s. So all of the QBs after Aikman sucked because they didn't bring titles. The jury is still out on Dak. Same goes for coaches, etc.

That about explains it in a nut shell. I also think this team has a really good chance to do some good football.

Romo ran a HOF receiver out of town just like Jerry ran a HOF coach out of town.
