Dak Prescott Finished Second in NFL MVP Votes According to the Associated Press

Because Mahomes wasn’t very good in the regular season.
This is true. MVP isn’t all about who won the championship.
Clearly, Mahomes is #1 in the entire NFL every year at this point. Every team in the league would rate him #1 if they were drafting all new teams and every player was in the draft. But last season, Mahomes didn’t have the stats or performance that voters look at. It wasn’t his fault; he ran into what Dak ran into a couple of years recently when Dallas tried to go with the committee approach at WR. Mahomes had a Championship defense and a run game, so the team held on until he built a relationship with those wideouts.

Mahomes is the best player in the NFL every year, but that doesn’t mean he was the most valuable player in the NFL in relation to his team.

And that year...Dak went 10-6 so it was an identical record to Mahomes.

Problem was Mahomes' defense stayed good for the entire playoffs while ours gave up 300 yards rushing vs the Rams.

Cowboys always have 1 game in the playoffs where the defense just gets absolutely ran over. Every year except 2022.

Oh stop it. The defense was absolutely embarrassing. There is no defending the defense. Unlike you, I am capable of admitting what happened out there.
It took a lot of convincing from me for you to finally even mention the defense. I know exactly what happened. Our defense gave up a 15 play opening drive for a TD. In every game that happened during the regular season, we ended up getting blown out. This is why the Packers took the ball. They wanted to jump on us quick and make us play from behind. Our offense couldn’t get on track and Dak started to press. He and CeeDee weren’t on the same page. It led to a pick and a pick-six. We were completely out of sync offensively but not once did our defense step up and make a stop or force a turnover. This is how the 49ers overcame a big deficit against Detroit in the conference title game. Their defense, led by Nick Bosa stepped up and made plays. Once our offense started to find some rhythm, it was too little too late because our defense kept giving up TDs.

No one has turned off the pump if members have daily--including today--keep posting that Prescott finished behind Josh Allen. I felt clarification was needed and did so. If anything, the factual interpretation of what actually happened should be described as pouring water on the brush fires that continue to burn.
No one was even thinking about....thank you for posting and clearing it up.....

Yep and Chiefs adapted to their lack of weapons on offense.

Again, since you are determined to ignore facts, the offense didn't get into a rhythm or start doing anything until GB pulled their starters and took their foot off the gas.

Why do you refuse to see or admit that this happened. Everyone else on the planet saw what happened, but apparently you didn't.

How many runner ups/1st losers can people name without googling it. What makes this one so special

I have yet to see in my life one other team have supports yell as much as some of ours about their QB finishing 2nd

The Packers didn’t pull their starters until the fourth quarter. We started generating offense long before that. It’s not like all 510 of our total yards came in the fourth quarter. I saw exactly what happened but a lot of fans are pinning it entirely on the QB. I’m not in denial about what I saw like many of you.

A good question to pose each AP representative--if anyone had a list and contact info for all 50 of them to asked them their thoughts.
Because Mahomes had a bad year last year. If the MVP were just to be awarded to the leagues best player regardless of anything else that happened in the year Mahomes would just win the next 10-12 MVPs and there would be no need for a season.

I do not disagree based on the purpose of the award but there is the counter argument that a league most valuable player award should include their performance from Week 1 up to and possibly the Super Bowl.
