just to be clear about Dak, he IS the best young QB that has come out in the last few year; Carr possibly being the only real competition. Going back a little farther Wilson. He could be in the conversation. Newton, Luck, Winston, etc none of them frankly impress me at all. Mariota MIGHT but he has to show he can stay on the field.
BUT I have been around to see one year wonders before; injuries an other things can happen. I need to see Dak with about three years of that kind of play before I call him the best there is.
Mariota, agreed. He's injured too much, and reports are he lost weight this offseason to the chagrin of his coaching staff. They want him to put on a few pounds, which went against the advice of his personal trainer, whom he sided with. Still, he has surprised me, no doubt about it. I didn't believe in him at all when he was drafted.
Winston, for me, is a bonafide star, blue-chip prospect -- but please, I'm really tired of debating Zoners on him.
Wilson is elite, imo, if we're calling top-5 "elite". I totally agree, there.
We do need to see more of Dak, especially when he's mentioned with Carr. This season will tell us everything, 666. With all my conviction, I believe we have a top-5 QB prospect on our hands with Dak.
