Dak vs Wentz comparison thread **merged**

I made this comment here before the draft.

I don't know if Wentz is going to be a star or not but he has a strong arm, he is mobile, he is very athletic, and he is smart. All the qualities for your starting QB. I don't have access to determine his personality, competitiveness, work ethic etc.. only scouts and personnel people do, but if those interviews pass the quality control check then that's the move you make (Browns, good Lord), and it's a no brainer.

Now i don't know who is in charge of the vetting process with the Rams (or any other team that had Goff rated higher), but anyone who doesn't know where the sun rises and sets has lived his entire life as a clueless fool. He's from California for goodness sake, all those times they are hanging on the beach watching the sun set he literally had no idea where he was or what it meant.

I'm not joking, i understand they are trying to get a stadium built etc.. California boy and all, but this is absurd. I see huge bust with Goff, and a chance at stardom for Wentz.

I know you don't have to be a brain surgeon to play football, but there is a lot to handle being a premier starting QB in the NFL, as much off the field as on, being a moron reduces your chance at success dramatically.

If i'm wrong about this i'm going to be a little sad, meaning i might have to slightly alter my understanding of a game i've loved watching for over 40 years xD.

The Goff comparison I made is Sam Bradford.. I fully expect him to still be that kind of guy.

I actually kind of like Bradford (ducking), i think he got a bit of a raw deal in his career, two bad injuries, the stigma of the contract, bouncing teams, multiple coordinators, coaches etc.. i didn't care for his complaining after the Wentz selection but he was just frustrated as hell i'm sure. Good spot for him now with Zimmer, we'll see how it pans out.

Goff i see as a complete social butterfly type, more interested in trying to find a way to meet Taylor Swift than studying for an opponent, but i don't really know the guy so.. i got bad vibes though, very bad.

I'm just amazed that we are actually engaged in a long winded comparison of a top 2 pick to a 4th rounder after two games. To me, that speaks volumes about the 4th rounder.
I know it's nit picking, but Dak was taken after the 4th round was over with the 135th pick...technically a 5th rounder, IMO. I know some would argue that point, but it's more fun to say we got him with what really amounts to a 5th rounder.

Bradford is a middle of the road guy at best. Not worthy of being the #1 pick. Kind of how I always felt about Goff.

There is no way on earth I would trade Dak for Goff straight up because I just never saw the big upside with Goff. He's just a run of the mill QB imo.

So what do you want to do here. Sit there and drool over another teams' QB or get on board with our TWO QBs?

No matter what, WE AREN'T GETTING WENTZ.

Gee, I thought this was a sports message board where we discuss the Cowboys and football in general.

Silly me.

But you go on and on about it like there's something we can do about it. We can't.

Where they are picked no longer matters. They are both on the field. Both are playing. Now all that matters is who will be a better players for their team.
It matters to me. I'm just a sportsbabe. Diehard. The experts said 4th round 1st round. I base my answer on the facts provided to me 2day.
Dak all day all day. :star:

I go with what is.

I like Wentz and the fact that the Browns fired their scouts after recommending him is all you need to know about them.

It's too early to get a read on pure future quarterback performance week to week but Dak absolutely has the edge in intangibles, so I'll go with him.

QB's are always overdrafted because of the demand for quality starting QB's. It seems that the Cowboys have actually gained a QB that was underdrafted. That doesn't happen very often.

Maybe they're both good QBs?

I try not to be this guy, because an NFL team is still an NFL team, but I do tend to agree that Dak has played the tougher competition out of the two. I think a few more weeks into the year will bring in a better picture for both of them. The season will surely bring them some bumps and bruises and we will see how they can handle themselves in the face of adversity.

I just know this: I've been damn impressed with Dak thus far. Just everything about him. I get he has things to work on but what NFL QB doesn't? Especially a rookie.

I'm excited to have him on our team and to see what the future brings. He's a dynamic player.

Fair enough.

But 4 TD passes is 4 TD passes, no matter where the QB came from. And 4 picks is 4 picks.

When Tony Romo, the undrafted FA, throws a TD pass, it counts as 6 points. When Aaron Radgers, a 1st round pick throws a TD pass, it counts as 6 points. There are no bonus points for being a UFA.

See...this is what I'm talking about. We can have a Tony discussion....We were talking about Dak/Wentz.

Very True. But the club with the UFA still has its 1st rd pick.

We are having a discussion about the kid. If you don't like it, then find another thread.

And you'll note, I haven't said once that I want him. I think Prescott has done just fine. My issue is with fans here struggling to admit what is obvious, at least at this point. The kid can play.

People also forget that Philly had to give up Foles and a 2nd rounder to get Bradford and got very little out of him.. Now Foles wasn't worth a lot, but the 2nd was valuable.
And the Giant contract for Bradford of which they ate money, and the Giant contract they had to eat for Murray who is playing well btw. And trading Maxwell and
Their stupidity directly effected us for the next 10 years.
Guys like you said the same thing about RG III for the record...

I prefer to say we got him for the Compensatory pick we got for the Eagles giving Murray a monster contract .....
