Exactly, Wentz doesn't know how to avoid the big hits. He's been hit harder than any QB this year. I watched him break his ribs during the preseason, and was shocked that he was able to get up after the hit. I commented immediately that he was lucky to not be injured. A minute later, he was on the sidelines taking off his pads with a broken rib. He's relied on his size in college to absorb those hits. But, in the pros, that's not going to work. He stands in the pocket, and continually take those kill shots, his availability/effectiveness will be compromised. He's built long and tall, which presents an easy target for defenders to hit. While Dak has a more compact and thickly build, which presents defenders with a smaller target. Also, Dak has a large lower body, which allows him to break tackles. I've already seen Wentz take at least 4 kill shots, while I haven't seen Dak take any. Dak knows when to slide and how to use his mobility to avoid those hits. While Wentz continues to take those hits. Time will tell, but Dak's career will surpass Wentz based on Dak's abiity to avoid the big hit and Wentz's inability to do so.That's my takeaway. He's going to get killed. On three scrambles last night he took unnecessary hits.
But the kid clearly has talent. The Eagles allow him, as a rookie, to make a lot of line calls and he appears to be making a lot of good decisions. He clearly has an arm that can make all throws. He's shown touch, a live arm, etc. And he stands in the pocket and delivers the ball in the face of pressure.
I know some fans want to downplay him but they way I look at it, if Wentz was doing that for us, those same people would be downright giddy.
