I believe there should be a rule set in place on this site that for those who speak about the salaries of players, they must also put under their avatars their annual salary for all to see.

Somehow there are people who believe if the team had the extra money they are complaining about, the team would somehow be better because they would spend that money wisely.

The history of this brain trust should indicate nothing is further from the truth.

This is nothing new for most high priced QB teams. I wonder if in the near future there is a correction here where some teams just start peppering the QB position with retreads and constant draft picks and churn that roster spot while pouring major resources into the rest of team. LOgic being if you build a legit stud roster, you can get the right game manager to steer it.

Those who don’t like Dak WANT to pay him 59 million next year, no matter what it does to the cap, no matter how bad we struggle next season, and no matter who we lose in FA because of it.
Paying Dak 59 million next year means he’s finished in Dallas and we will start a new QB in 2024.
with the team where they are today, if we don't have a plan for QB for 2024, then we are just wanting to get rid of Dak because "I don't like him". Rush is not the answer. if anybody thinks Rush is the answer then they need their head examined. what are FA options?

and building a team in FA is just a fantasy for some people. who was available in FA this year we couldn't get? same with last year? both years we had 20M on the cap...... and we just extended Diggs, talking to Lamb. who on our team we wanted to keep and sign and we couldn't?

there is usually no good options in FA. usually they are older, have injury issues and if they are any good, they are way over priced (which is what we are complaining about here). no good QB ever really hits the FA market. so trade is the other option and that doesn't come about that often and usually you give up a lot of resources. Stafford cost an arm and a leg. Rodgers cost a lot. but who maybe available next year that would be an option. usually, its an older QB looking for a ring. so if there is a better option I am open to it.

so who are you going to put in there that would make us better?

if there is a better options lets go.

Please don't say Rush :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:
Even if he does cost 59 million.contracts like parsons will be back loaded so they could work it out. The problem will be if they extend him for big money because in a few years parsons and other contracts will be bigger then. I make him play on it.

cap is manipulated and money always pushed to the future, until the team blows up and you take dead caps in one or two years and rebuild.

so I am not worried about the 59M being an actual number we have to meet next year. it will be reduced, years added and would allow the dead cap hits to be more pallarable.

FA is either very expensive because if a talented player makes it to FA, everybody wants him, or you get older, injured players or those with iffy backgrounds (brown or Beckam anyone?).

these people think it works like Yahoo Fantasy football.

I hope they don’t extend him but I’m guessing they will

You're right that 59 won't be the actual cap hit next year, but the only way "years get added" is if team Dak and team Cowboys agree to an extension/new contract. If you think Dak is adding years without getting compensated at market value, you’re nuts.

Sooner or later the piper is getting paid. The only question is how long do you want him to fiddle with his flute before you take the hit.

so it could be done without really adding any money to the contract. you can add 2 years, change the 59M and pay him 30M upfront as a bonus and spread the 30 over 4 years and reduce cap hit by 23M... and put some fake numbers in the added years that will either be renegotiated or allows you to walk away. or you can walk away and take a 61M cap hit and hope you can find a QB somewhere....anything we do has to be considered if its going to make the team better.

the cap hit 59M. the cash payout is 34M and so they can take the 34 M and pay 30M up front and add years and some meaningless numbers to those years that would have minimal guarantees. if he gets paid in March.

He’s going to get extended. I know some people aren’t in favor of that and want the cowboys to move on. But just prepare yourselves mentally for it. Because that’s what the FO is going to do. Right or wrong.
Because at the very least Dak makes us relevant. Can't risk it. At least that's the way Jerry will think. He should wait until after the season to see if Dak has regressed more or if he gets injured again.
