So how does that contribute to the success of the team??? It doesn't, and he should not be getting an extension....we are in DEEEEEP trouble if they make that monumental mistake!!!
His extension helps the team with the cap which helps them get better.

If I'm Jerry I find a way to pay this year's salary to Dak which makes him waivable
after 6/1 next year correct?
Because Dak IS NOT going get magically better in thr future, in fact every team knows how to defeat Dak.
He will only do well against teams with a TB defense or worse.
It's early, but with the duo of MM and Dak we will not break .500 next year.

Draft a QB Jerry.
Dak gets better with a couple of players added to the offense and with McCarthy running the offense.

Or you can wallow in mediocrity and wonder why you can't ever make it deep into the playoffs. I mean we've been doing that for 27 years so what's a few more decades.
or you can build a championship team around your qb.

eagles, giants, SF, rams, ect……ect…..

sitting around dumping top 10 qbs and waiting for a mahomes is the dumbest team building strategy ever discussed.

Interesting on how you can personally attack another member by calling them ignorant and nothing happens. Interesting indeed...I don't care much for the true haters but all you guys do just as much attacking, if not more, then the haters.
Ignorant isn’t an insult McFly. We’re all ignorant about many things You included.

Totally impossible if you don’t even try. I started to get into overthecap last night to look at our options again… Then I got depressed and closed it… Jerry’s not doing anything.
Anyone with remotely a brain realizes that we’re close. Jerry just need s to finish the job and spend some money.

Why would he agree to removing part of the contract that both sides agreed to?
It’s not like a team can’t move on if they want to or trade a player with a no trade clause. You can let them play out, cut them or trade them to a club they agree to
He won’t. Jerry is a fool.

Players were getting open against the 49ers. Dak chose to focus mainly on Lamb and Schultz though. How is adding a couple of players going to make Dak better if he won't read the field? I do agree about the play calling though.

The bigger problem many fans just can’t seem to put their arms around is our dysfunctional ownership priorities aren’t perfectly aligned with the fans .
No matter the owner, GM, HC, playcaller or personnel support...This still does not excuse an elite paid QB of the team to make consistently poor decisions with the ball in his hands when different decisions in real time would have altered the outcome of the game.

The NFL power triangle to NFL success is outanding GM, HC and QB.

Just because Jerry hired the HC and drafted the QB does not give the HC and QB to be poor decision makers at their job.

Is Jerry "ultimately" responsible for the HC's hiring and the drafting of the QB?
YES.
Does that eliminate the HC and QB from team blame when they fail?
NO.

That's the "present" Cowboys reality.

It doesn’t help the product on the field. But on field success is secondary to Jerry. Financial success and his legacy as a businessman are his primary concerns.

What does eating his lunch mean? The Cowboys are 3 and 1 against the Eagles in the last 2 years.
It means out performing him dramatically in the off season.

Yea. 3 and 1 … is there a trophy for that? You have to agree That Roseman has dramatically outperformed Jerry in terms of GMing.

Roseman didn't get a trophy and now they have 20 free agents and have to pay Hurts.

If you can prove that I said "draft the next Mahomes" and not "You'll never draft the next Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith (You know an example)" I'll delete my account and never post agian.

If you don't prove it then you delete yours?

You twist words too much. Deal?
Oooooooo,.....another rendition of "Delete Your Account" my favorite game ever!!!

It's pretty inevitable that Jerry is going to extend Dak. Between his 2023 cap hit being untenable and being able to cite two playoff births and one win (I know it's not good enough for us but it is for Jerry) since signing the deal, it's going to happen. I don't know much about the contract process but I'm curious if they can nix that no trade clause when they do an extension/restructure, or does it stay in automatically?

I guess it's pretty counterintuitive to think that Jerry would trade Dak when he will almost certainly extend him, but it would be nice if the FO at least had the option, especially if they can somehow luck into a good QB in the draft since it sounds like QB will finally become a priority in the draft again. I do think that the second Jerry has any sort of a health scare that we may see the urgency to win ramp up considerably and he may actually consider trying to upgrade at the QB position, especially if we have another one and done playoff year. Or maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
The no-trade clause is a non-issue. They're not going to trade him.
- If they ever wanted to trade him, it would be because another QB surpassed him (like Dak did with Romo).
- If surpassed, then why would he decline a trade for a team that wanted him?

What's your point exactly?

Dak's good, but he's not elite. Nobody's against an upgrade at QB. We all want the next Mahomes.

The question is HOW do we do that?

Crying like a ___ about how Dak isn't Mahomes doesn't do anything. What's your solution?

Until we have an upgrade, Dak's the best we've got. And he's still better than most QBs.

The solution is to draft a QB and stop overpaying for an average QB.
