I'm not saying it'll be quick at all. What I'm saying is that things like the shell casings or the license plate of the car that was used will help. The point is, let's see where the facts take us in this case.

Well I doubt they have a shell casing as the gun was fired inside the car,and if they had the plate # they would know who was driving and have them in custody.
All they have is a picture of the car and gun fire from it, and it was a SUV.

True, but the bullet that hit the victim would likely be lodged where he was impacted. As such, forensics could still use that. Additionally, the car would have a license plate on it, so, if the cameras on the video caught the license plate number, they can track that down as well.
