He will, but the goapost will move again like Idgit said.

If the connection between adding good players and winning football games is not obvious in the first place, is there really any hope the realization will dawn eventually? There is not.

There's something wrong with a perspective that can't objectively look at what the team does right and discuss it in that context without fixating on the fact that we also still do some things wrong. Just look at the first handful of responses here on this topic. I'm sorry. That's not you having a higher standard than I do. That's you being unable to discuss the topic at hand because the topic at hand does not allow you to wallow in your unhappiness about losing the game in Green Bay. Those two things are not the same.

There are plenty of threads where we can talk about what the team needs to improve. There's a whole Zone dedicated to blowing off steam. The thread about the team's recent drafting success is not where you come in and imply you're a better fan than I am because you're apparently grumpier about the outcome of the last game than I am a month after it's been played.

Apparently, the only people who can claim to be better fans are those who only sing the team's praises while not lamenting the fact that they still don't win. And then make accusations against others. Sorry. But when it comes to this team, there is no separation. It's all part of the big picture. And there's no compartmentalization or separation of that, despite some people apparently wishing it were so so that their fragile sensibilities aren't offended by seeing both the good and the bad.

But yet they continue to try to tell people how they should think and what kind of fans they should be and what's realistic or objective. And then have the nerve and lack of self awareness not to realize that's exactly what they do while pointing their finger at someone else.

These apparent people you're referring to, I'm not sure I've seen them on CZ. I know for a fact, for instance, there are a ton of us in the defensive talent threads lamenting the mistakes the team has made allocating resources and taking unnecessary risks. I know for a fact there are a lot of us in the playoff game threads lamenting the decisions we made in the Green Bay game when it comes to rotating players when GB was not, not having done more to upgrade the suspect pass rush that's gotten us beaten for years, etc. Yet you seem to think they exist. If you care to point a single one out, I'll see if I can't find posts from that person lamenting something about the team. Or I can look for an example of them claiming to be better fans, if you prefer. We can do it just as an experiment in how our perceptions map to reality.

You're right that the team's shortcomings are definitely part of a big picture. That doesn't mean the things we criticize have to bleed into every topic to the point where we can't discuss the things the team actually is doing a good job with as well. We were 13-3 for a reason. Acknowledging those reasons does not mean anybody doesn't also remember why we lost the home playoff game.

I'll leave alone the irony of you objecting to other people sharing their opinions on a message board one more time. We're all here to exchange arguments and ideas. Neither of our opinions are no more or less important than anybody else's.

the pats don't seem to have a hard time building a superbowl team they seem to be able to take average players and other teams castoffs and win championships the great clue is its the coaching

We should definitely hire Belichick if he comes available.

I think we can all agree that our organization is not the Pats' organization right now. And our coach is not the Pats' coach. I also think it's selling the Patriots short to think they don't win games because of personnel. They have a talented team on both sides of the football.

I'll save you the trouble. Find a reflective surface.

It also doesn't mean that they have to be forgotten either. Nor does it mean that you can talk about it there and not talk about it here.

I've already said that I can handle both praising them for things they've gotten right while also being able to handle criticism for things they haven't. And I don't place qualifiers on it. Not for me, nor for anyone else. And I don't chastise others for expressing their opinions, both positive or negative. Or try to tell them what's realistic or objective or the proper way a fan should behave.

I'll leave alone the irony of you objecting to other people sharing their opinions on a message board one more time. We're all here to exchange arguments and ideas. Neither of our opinions are no more or less important than anybody else's.

No, they're absolutely not. But I'm not the guy trying to chastise people for expressing them, or trying to tell them where they should or shouldn't express them. Any "irony" is lost on you.

Nobody's "moving goalposts". Some people's goalposts are just higher than others.

Stasheroo, I think your analogy is a little off, I would have went with "narrower" goalposts instead of higher goalposts? I mean I guess raising the goal posts would make things more difficult but it seems that narrowing them or making the target smaller in this case would have made more sense.
