Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo Set To Retire

All you need to know as just heard on ESPN NFL Live from Herm Edwards.

All time--

3rd in QB rating
4th in net yards per throw
3 in TD/INT ratio

That's the company he's in.

Yeah, its a game I've played since I was 6 or 7. He probably wanted to play but couldn't do it, not protecting himself, more of you just can't bend.

And yeah, the back is the most important part of your body in golf, totally true. If he took that much time off and still put up that number in a tournament, Romo is pretty good at golf.

I've been playing golf since I was 12. He claimed a few years ago he was giving up golf so as not to put a strain on his back. He said he felt fine but it was a precaution.

Many people including PGA tour players play golf with back issues. Fred Couples did it for many years but none of them were making millions playing QB in the NFL. With Romo not having to guard against injury due to retiring from football, he faces no risk playing golf. Missing a few rounds of golf due to a sore back isn't going to be an issue for him or cost him a lucrative career.

Yeah Greg Norman really had to give it up cause of his back, number 1 golfer in the world.

Just tells me if he's playing golf though, his back is probably feeling alot better.

I'm sure Romo's back is feeling fine, according to him it was feeling fine heading into last season but he didn't want to take any unnecessary chances with his back being an NFL QB. He doesn't have an NFL career to protect if he's retiring so he's back to playing golf.

Wasn't Troy almost a Dolphin even after starting at Fox... and later, almost an Eagle?

Yeah I'm just curious how much he can get his game right. If he can, senior tour is an option.

Man he could make some money for both the tour and himself if he is right.

reported = rumor

I just checked google...no announcements found anywhere.

yeah your right he will be playing here next year competing for a job. Tell you what come back tomorrow and we can talk about this some more. Given all the publication who are saying this I highly doubt it that this is the run of the mill rumor

He's not going to need competitive golf to make money with a broadcasting career. He'll just do the celebrity golf circuit.

ALL the publications were saying he was being released like a month ago and boom, zero of them were right.

In this business, only trust what is happening or has happened, not what will happen.

He was released and everyone knew he would be released except for a few here who do not live in reality. Who you trust is up to you, I don't think this many would be reporting this if there was no substance to it but again I'm not here to tell you what to believe.

Because something does not happen in your time frame does not mean it was not going to happen. I think Dallas has tried to move Romo via trade but that is not going to happen because no team is giving up draft picks for a 37 year old QB coming off 2 back injuries.

I know, would still be fun to watch. Its a long way for Romo, senior tour limit is 50. Just saying, its possible.

Broadcasting and his money, he could play 4 days a week. If he wants to do it, he could.

Tiger was special when healthy, probably the most special ever. If Tiger said that, I believe it.

“They want to give him a plus-3 handicap, which is complete BS,” Woods said. “I mean he’s a scratch. I play to a scratch every tournament, I’m a scratch.”

He would have no chance of having success on the senior tour playing against players who've dedicated their lives to professional golf. Romo hasn't won any celebrity tournaments that he's entered and hasn't qualified for any PGA tour events. He's a good golfer but he's not that good. There's athletes from other sports including football that are better golfers than him.

give me a break.......no pun intended

we all know the serious risks Romo faces after multiple surgeries and breaks

he is either a target or a jinx

What serious risks does he face that every other player doesn't? Not being able to walk? That was a joke right?

"Tony Romo shoots lower round than partner Tiger Woods"
