In looking at the Dallas Cowboys .com web site, I was looking at the roster rundowns and noticed that now that Brent has retired - our heaviest DT is Bishop at 305 lbs. Everyone else is at 300 or under ! Then you look at all our OT and they are all 315 plus. So my question is, where is the beef ?
Also, they list Brinkley at 275 for a LBer ?
Bishop - 305
Hayden - 303
Coleman - 300
Crawford - 285
McClain - 300
Whaley - 272
We are looking a little light up front .....

Around 300 is normal for Marinelli DTs.

Whaley is actually closer to 300 than he is to 270 these days. But I share your concern. Marinelli likes his 1 techs to be able to play 3 tech, and vice versa. But for Cowboys DL to become elite, a true monster in the middle is required IMO. Would love for Jerry to burn his 2016 first on a 330 pound Tasmanian Devil like Danny Shelton, but its not going to happen.

McClain is the guy you need to root for to win the 1 tech spot. I think that happens if he stays healthy this year. Bishop is a possibility also but we still don't know what we have there yet.

Dallas needs a 315- 325 lb monster DT to solidify this defensive line....

Yes, I think so.
I am not being a complainer, I think the draft went remarkably well. We will get contributions from most of this years draft picks. And with the (hopefully) 3-4 extra picks next year, we will be in a great spot come next draft.
The nagging concern I feel is - will we get run on ! If every lineman/rushman is outweighed by 15 -20 lbs, it may not be so bad when offences are in pass protect, but when they line up - like our front line - and try to smash mouth people off the ball. That is where we could be in trouble.

Pretty unlikely while Marinelli is here

I doubt he starts even if he does beat out Hayden. They like him as the back up to both positions and very easily (as he should) get more snaps than Hayden, barring injury. Bishop is the only one on the roster who can likely take Hayden's spot.

Last season the shortage of DEs kept them from moving Mincey inside on pass rush sitations. That should not be a problem with the amount of DEs that can move inside.

The monster DT Warren Sapp in Tampa when Marinelli was defensive line coach/assistant HC would beg to differ

I don't think Sapp was between 315-325 during his earlier playing days.

I think prior to getting to Oakland he was between 290-310 most of the time, with the 310 coming after he was DPOY and won a SB

I think I've gained 50 lbs. in 10 years too. lol

how about 2000
Defensive tackle Warren Sapp, the driving force of Tampa Bay's strong defense, didn't just shed a few pounds before minicamp, he lost an entire 2-year-old. Sapp played at 330 pounds last season.

"I played 1,010 plays last year at 330 pounds, nobody said I could do it, and I put up 161/2 sacks," Sapp said. "I just cut off 27 pounds and we're going to see what we've got.

The notion he played most of his career at 300 is laughable..
