I dont think we are going to win a SB with this Defense even with Romo playing at 2014 level.

Say what you want-- but this D is better than what we fielded in 2014-- even along the DL. We came up 2 plays short in GB from going to the NFCC game. IMO-- this offense is good enough to protect the shortcomings of the D and that gives them a puncher's chance in the playoffs.

The last great offense that won the SB with a suspect D was Indianapolis with Manning. We are more physical than that team, with a much better ground game. It can be done-- although certainly not easy. I would give us a better shot in 2017 after another draft and free agency haul shores up the D even more.

Do it like Belichek, say Tony will start vs Philly, then start Dak. Then, play dumb and start him vs. the Browns so he can get back to football shape. Say Tony is our leader now, and Dak is the general in waiting. Both fans will be happy.

When I think of Romo and his career here in Dallas, no other player has taken me on highs and lows like he has. There have been times when I was totally down on him and wanted him gone and there have been times when I would not want anyone else behind center for the Cowboys. There have been a few times when I felt both ways in a single game!

Regardless of what happens, March is the worst time to part ways

Either trade him this year or after June 1st next year...it would cut his Dead Money hit from 19m to 11m

Just speculation with a website outlet.

We save 5M on the cap in a release/trade.

Romo's productivity is what will determine what we do with 9.

Guys we have a really good bus driver at the moment and are 4 games into this season. We should all relax.

Best case scenario: Romo returns to 2014 form and wins a SB this year or next, retires on top, and hands the keys to a prepared/developed Dak for 2018.

worst case scenario: We cut Romo in 2017, Dak flames out and Romo wins a SB for another team.

Um ... yeah ... we're not winning a SB this year or next.

In 2017, we'd take on a heck of a lot of dead cap but we'd actually come out 5 mill ahead in space if Romo retired. So he's at the point in his deal where this could be a reality.

Lol... That's why it would be the best case scenario.

This offense is surely talented enough to win it all. Defense is middling at best, agreed-- but Indy won a SB with a dominant offense and an average D-- why can't we?

Next year could be espescially promising depending on what we do in the draft and FA.

There are no super teams, especially in the NFC

As much respect as I hold for Tony Romo, it seems there comes a time when the winds of change come calling for the best of them. He has had many more good days than bad and is to be gratefully congratulated for what he's done for the Cowboys franchise. He's a truly special QB.

The new guy in town named Prescott is winning it over by surprising everyone, myself included. Many others here have also been delighted with him. Needless to say, that feeling includes the Dallas staff as well. Like many of us, they're thrilled with his talent, poise and many of the other attributes that it takes to be a winner in pro football. The games that lie directly in Dak's path right now could speak loudly to his future.

Granted, it's more than likely that Romo will be awarded the opportunity to be the starting QB in the second half of the 2016 season. Yet, there is an oncoming tide of thinking that the starting QB role in 2017 might very well belong to Prescott. This, of course, remains to be seen but aging and physical decline have evidently taken a toll on Romo's ability to maintain the health that he once had in better times. Only time will eventually reveal when Tony's career ends and Dak's begins. Here's hoping things work out satisfactorily for both of them.

Barring Romo being unable to play anymore due to injuries,or just really lays an egg, I do not think Dak will become the full time starter before the end of the 2017 season. After that, Romo's job becomes much less secure.

Dak's play and Romo's age and injuries have already made his job much less secure.

If Dak continues to improve and we continue to win games with him and make the playoffs this season, Romo is done as the starter. Book it!

It's pretty obvious this is going to happen at this point.

I love Romo but we need to work towards getting his contract off our books if we want to be able to build a defense. You don't leave Dak on the bench, it will become a distraction next season.

Get Romo's off and Dak's on.
