Go look at the stats for other back up TE's sitting behind top ten TE's on their respective depth charts, and get back to me.

With what?

Their lack of value?

Show me another backup TE drafted in the second round and I'll show you another wasted pick!

We spent a third rounder on Witten.

I guess spending a second rounder on Fasano just evens things up.:

Look how many people here don't mind spending a first round pick on a backup RB to a guy who wants a $10M/year contract without one 1000-yard rushing season and a grand total of 3 starts.

Thanks. Been reading on the forums for a few months now but with college I been busy. Figured I'd post for the draft and get used to some fans on here.

All you need to know is there is one poster, and one poster only, who really does know it all... if you can figure out who that poster is, and follow his sage counsel blindly, you too can be seen as a football god...

Otherwise, you'll just be one of the faceless peons... :D

*Sigh*

No more Akin Ayodele? :(

Time to reflect on all the big plays he made as a Cowboy.

There was that one game where... hmm no, that was Bradie James.

How about the time... nope, negated by penalty.

But he deserves MAJOR props for the time he... nope, James again.

(No, I won't miss Akin)

The thing that irks me the most about this trade.

I missed watching Battlestar G.

Luckily I recorded it on the DVR.

Oh good, then you'll have something to do tomorrow afternoon...

Did you hear Jerry on ESPN the other day? He said he's made trades where the other team got better value so he could come back and trade with that team again. I smell a trade down with Miami, who would love to get a Brohm, Henne or Flacco late in the first. I want that 3rd Miami has, which is #1 day 2.

looks like this could be the case then...

Fasano is in your top 22 on the Cowboys? Who are you, Larry Lacewell? Akin was by far the lousiest 3-4 WILB in the NFL. You can argue we should have got their 3rd, but don't tell me either was much of a loss.

No he's not a top 22 on the Cowboys.....but week 1 he will be for Miami.....and so will Akin.....so that's 2 of MIAMI'S top 22 for a 4th round pick ..... look I understand the trade but come on a 4th .....

Miami has gotten the following from us:

Starting NT - Jason Ferguson for a 6th
Starting TE - Anthony Fasano for a 4th
Starting LB - Akin Ayodele for the same 4th

Plus Ireland (general manager), Sparano(head coach), Bowles(coach), Pasqualoni(coach), Rogers(coach) and players like Keith Davis ......

That's 4 of their starting 22 ..... for a 6th and a 4th ..... and half the coaching staff ..... :bang2:

Now all Jones has to do is trade MB3 to them for their 3rd ...... since he hasn't signed the offer or tender yet .....

I guess I can look at it this way ..... I can have two teams to cheer for next year the Dallas Cowboys and the South Beach Cowboys .....

That's some perspective right there.

I still don't really see what difference it makes where these players sit in the depth chart for MIAMI! Who cares? Their effect on the Cowboys was important. Ferguson and Akin are older players. Fasano was dinged up a couple of years and didn't really fit the new Phillips/Garrett era. He was a pure Parcells pick, as much as he was a good guy etc.

An early fourth could add a nice skill player that fills needs on this team.

I don't think Fasano and Akin starting for Miami is something for them to brag about. In Dallas they were UPGRADEABLE players. Parcells restores competitiveness and character in Miami and Dallas has the opportunity to upgrade the talent on a deep team.

I'm guessing Akin would have been one of those shocking cuts on the day before the 53 man roster had to be revealed anyway.

I don't have a problem trading them, seems to me we can do without their 15 plays next year. My only concern is taking Fasano in the second round and then trading him for a fourth round pick.

Still, better to cut our losses I guess.

In Sean Peyton's first year with New Orleans, Parcells gave him a lot of talent and recieved little in return... Jerrah gave bill a few players we didn't need, for little in return... But it seems as though Jerry and the Cowboys are now part of the Parcell's "clique".... The good thing about this, is it goes both ways... We've scratched Bill's back, and when the time is right, Bill (or one of his "disciples") will scratch Jerry's back in return... Yuck, that's a nasty visual, sorry...

But it does suck to lose a top-20 TE for a 4th...

While I am not crying any tears over losing these guys, it does seem like more could have been had than a 4th. Let's just hope that pick is part of what gets us Roy Williams.

Let's wait to see if Fasano and his 14 receptions a year can unseat David Martin and who we take with our 4th before we label this trade a disaster.

We've essentially traded Fasano and Akin for Pacman Jones and a higher 4th rounder. If Pacman plays to his potential and stays clean, this is a great deal.
