***Dallas trades Fasano and Akin to Miami for 4th round pick (#100)

Two guys who LOST starting jobs and one who NEVER had one.

Which two lost starting jobs last season?

The fact of the matter is we gave them three starters for a swap of 6th round picks and a 4th round pick. There's no avoiding it.

That's beside the point ...... They will be starters in Miami ..... look I've got a car but if your going to give me a Corvette ..... I'll take it for my lawnmower .....

1. how many games did ferguson start for us last year? 1. let's not make stuff up to just prove some illusionary point. i don't care if he starts for miami. the point is we've done better, not that we've let talent go. great for jason. great for miami. but you miss the great for us for being in this position as well.

2. how many 2 TE sets did we run again? you can call fasano a starter but please make sure tatoo knows where to let the plane land. no one is going to get ahead of witten anytime soon and again, a great position for us, not a knock on fasano. 2nd string on a playoff team SHOULD start for a 1-15 team, ya think?

3. akin was going to walk, who cares. again you make depth more than it is. so they start for another team.

the point is we're good enough to where they can't start for us and we recognize that.

you don't seem to though.

I still don't really see what difference it makes where these players sit in the depth chart for MIAMI! Who cares? Their effect on the Cowboys was important. Ferguson and Akin are older players. Fasano was dinged up a couple of years and didn't really fit the new Phillips/Garrett era. He was a pure Parcells pick, as much as he was a good guy etc.

An early fourth could add a nice skill player that fills needs on this team.

I don't think Fasano and Akin starting for Miami is something for them to brag about. In Dallas they were UPGRADEABLE players. Parcells restores competitiveness and character in Miami and Dallas has the opportunity to upgrade the talent on a deep team.

I'm guessing Akin would have been one of those shocking cuts on the day before the 53 man roster had to be revealed anyway.

AGAIN ...... I'm not unhappy with the trade ...... just what we got in the trade......look at it this way

2007 4th round picks
Isaiah Stanback #103
Doug Free #122
2006 4th round pick
Skyler Green #125
2005 4th round picks
MB3 #104
Chris Canty#132
2004 4th round pick
Bruce Thornton #121
2003 4th round pick
Bradie James #103
2002 4th round pick
Jamar Martin #129

4 of 8 ...... 50% are still on the team ..... ?

While I am not crying any tears over losing these guys, it does seem like more could have been had than a 4th. Let's just hope that pick is part of what gets us Roy Williams.

basing this off what? this is still a top 100 pick tomorrow. would either of these players crack a top 100 list in the NFL today?

we traded out some depth to give us options. let's see how it *all* plays out before we get wound up over 1 move.

All you need to know is there is one poster, and one poster only, who really does know it all... if you can figure out who that poster is, and follow his sage counsel blindly, you too can be seen as a football god...

Otherwise, you'll just be one of the faceless peons... :D

Thanks bear............I'm flattered :)

good deal for us and them...Ayodele was gonna be released at some point, and a 4th is about the best we could hope for for a career backup TE

I think Fasano will do ok for them, and we can use the top pick of the 4th to get a ncie player

The more I think about it, you can kind of look at the trade like this:

Dallas trades Anthony Fasano for Pacman Jones.

Dallas trades Akin Ayodele to move from #126 to #100.

For some reason, that makes this trade seem more palatable to me.

i think it helps both teams. we get a pick and lose some depth, miami allows our depth to be their starters and they get better too.

And do we really know if Fasano's shoulder was going to be an ongoing problem. For as little as he played, he sure seemed to be hurt alot.

If Witten goes down, people are going to be throwing an absolute hissy fit over this trade.

dude dont say that.

Ever again.

Anthony Fasano's presence wouldn't change that. He's never done anything to suggest he can be half the player Witten is.

if whitten goes down then no matter who we had behind him, everyone would throw a hissy fit. i would feel better about curtis backing whitten then fasano.

Oh, that's just ridiculous.

Good news: The Dolphins just added this guy to the trade. He's a hard worker who's brimming with positivity.

You mean we traded Akin, a 4th rounder and a 6th-4th rounder next year to move from 126 to 100.

I mean if you're going to alter reality, let's try to be somewhat accurate. ;)

I count 5....Canty, MB3, James, Free & Stanback.

so 5 of 8......62.5% not too bad picking in 4th round.

you mean like you assuming the worst case scenario in draft picks but leaving out to get that pacman behaved and became value for us which is a best case for our side?

Well, you're trading the 4th round to move up from 126 to 100. That 4th round is the 126.

Come on now guys we DID get the same for Fasano and Ayodele that the Raiders got for Moss last year................................

(ducking)
