I don't like the trade one bit. I think Fasano was a solid contributer. The only thing I feel comfortable with is the fact that Tony Curtis has a chance to maybe show something.

Sure its a high 4th but come on, who here didn't think Fasano was worth at least a mid 3rd by himself?

Really??? Fasano was a great player in the making, he just didnt get any burn because of Witten, he had nice hands and played his"blocking role" very well. He will be a good one next year. I dont understand this part???:

"It's like if we lose Romo. I don't care who's his backup, we're screwed at that position. Same goes for TO, Ware and countless others."
???

I believe that is a good pick and it will help us, but I do think we lost some talent tonight as well.

My point was Witten is irreplaceable. It was in response to the people who said we're now worse off if Witten goes down.

Fasano might be better than Curtis in filling the void, but I don't think we'd be satisfied with either alternative.

a dolphins fan on the trade and his prediction for fasano next season:laugh2:

"This is the best Acquisition Miami made..........Akin was a BONUS

Fasano- TE- 57 Rec, 678 Yards 6 Td's

that would be awesome so im going with that

He has great hands and was overshadowed by Witten

What a steal"

Did we really think that?

Maybe my expectations are just low when it comes to trades. I always see names like Ellis, Carpenter, Spears, etc. thrown around and am just amazed by what people think these players will net.

Fasano's a solid player, but third-round picks are usually hard to get via trade. Hell, DeAngelo Hall only got a second in return, and although he's overrated he has Pro Bowls attached to his name and plays a more vital position.

Yes.

But of course, with how Fasano would play in a starting TE role, people would be throwing a hissy fit over why we ever selected him.

So you pick your poison really.
We'll see. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he got over 40 catches next season.

So that would be what, like 100 balls thrown his way?

He caught 67% of his passes last season, which is well above average.

Those 7 he didn't get pretty much all seemed a) pretty catchable and b) potentially huge plays.

don't get me wrong -- I was never on the "why did we draft Fasano?" side of the argument. I just never saw a guy who could be a legit starter or serious threat

That's the problem. You miss one big catch and people think you have bad hands. We had people claiming Crayton has bad hands around here for awhile.

actually, your above average statement interests me -- above average for a TE? Maybe. But what is above average for a 2nd TE playing on the field with TO and Witten, meaning that he's in single coverage against likely the teams' 2nd best LB?

Crayton had enough plays last year to excuse him. Problem is, Fasano, he's coming off a season where he had what, 2 multi-catch games?

Man boobs got the better of this one. Frankly, Ayodele is negligible.

Fasano going hurts because he was outstanding backup to Witten and exhibited toughness and could block.

We took Fasano in the 2nd round two years back and now he's essentially being gift-wrapped to man boobs for a 4th round pick. Sending them a TE with experience.

Stinks.

Stephen should tell his Dad to avoid man boobs from now on.

Fassano will be solid to good for them, depending on who else they acquire, he could be a key part of their passing game next season. He could put up some very decent numbers too if they get a rookie QB in there since rookies tend to lean on their TE's a bit early on.

Most TEs are matched up on a LB. Whether it's the 2nd best LB depends, usually, on what side they line up on. Teams don't assign linebackers to TEs based on how good they are in coverage.

Yeah, that's probably the result of being the 2nd TE rather than the 2nd WR. Presumably the latter's going to get a lot more multi-catch games.
