Most TEs are matched up on a LB. Whether it's the 2nd best LB depends, usually, on what side they line up on. Teams don't assign linebackers to TEs based on how good they are in coverage.

You know what I'm saying. Fasano is in far more favorable coverage than Witten -- he's not got a Safety on him -- it is a matchup he should be able to win - at least one he would have to exploit if he's going to catch 40 balls next year.

Wowzah. You sure you've seen this guy play?

Hold on now. He's right.

As it stands Curtis WILL see more PT this year. We have no other option.

I doubt either gets doubled much if at all. It's almost always going to be a linebacker or a safety. Fasano was just usually not on the field unless Witten was also on the field. And there's no sense throwing to Fasano when you have one of the best TEs to ever play the game to throw to.

I bolded the portion about being a better blocker.

By that regard then there is no sense having a quality 2nd TE b/c he's not getting the ball. Hell, you could put Randall Williams out there instead. And he's available........

2nd TEs do more than just catch the ball. Curtis' blocking ability might become a major issue this season. Since we use 2-TE sets nearly 50% of our offensive snaps, the position is obviously pretty important.

You need much less than a 4th round pick to get a nice blocking TE....

Agreed, but can you get one that late that's as good as Fasano in all areas of the game? Maybe. But they're not exactly that common.

this is my $.02 on the trade...

I can not positively say for sure that Akin or Fasano would have made the team this year anyway...

In fact if I had to take a guess I would have said that Akin being gone was 85% certainty and Fasano at an even 50%

so in that sense Dallas got a 4th for nothing... but...

If you look at where they were drafted and try to add it up mathematically it doesn't come out even...and Miami made out

I seriously think it was a very good trade for both teams...

I guess we'll find out Sunday....

Now I better go to bed before I start wanting some of that scotch you are drinking.

Absent a trade, I'd put both of them at 99.999% chance of making the team. Saying otherwise is just trying to justify the trade.

At first I thought it said delt for 4th overall pick, then I read twice...

Thought for a sec it was an automatic McFadden. :(

Anthony single handedly cost us a game because he completely wiffed on a block, forcing Romo to eat a sack while he had TO wide opened running down the field.

I remember several of those wiffs actually.

Dont forget about the dropped TD pass that hit him right in the hands against the G-men in the playoffs.

Romo even had his hand in the air to celebrate with a fist pump as a perfectly thrown pass was dropped in the endzone. Romo had that look, like what the hell Fasano?

We lost by 4 pts, Fasano catches that ball we win the game.:(

If you waited on Ayodele, you end up cutting him for nothing. If you package Fasano in a trade (not involving Miami who is the only team that knows Fasano) you won't get fair value for him, or people may not want him at all.

Jerry made the move for some reason, is there any press conference where he explains this?

I disagree. Fasano was probably 99.999% to make the team, but not Ayodele. The problem is, he's not good enough to start over ZThomas or Bradie James and isn't an ideal fit to play on special teams. Not enough atleticism or hustle. Because of this he almost certainly would've been left off the active game day roster and he makes too much for that.

I would disagree with you as well.

I thought Curtis did a tremendous job of blocking last year.

And he also made the most of every opportunity he had.

Which is more than I can say for Fasano.

I would almost go as far to say that Romo won't miss him.

It seemed he purposely didn't look for Fasano anyway.

Romo knew he would just drop it, so why bother?
