Or, in other words.........we gave up Fasano/Aydoyle for Pacman and moved UP in the 4th, almost to the 3rd.

If Pacman works out, we gotta good deal.........win/win situation there looks like. For everyone.............Dallas/Miami/Tennessee.

I agree Sarge...it was best for all of them...its really good for Fasano because he'll get a chance to be the starting TE there, somethign he'd never get here...and we got a nice pick in return

and I'm convinced Ayodele was gonna be waived before training camp anyway

Maybe more like what each player has done with that playing time.

Curtis has made the most of his.

And Fasano?

So Tony's 3 catches in his first year on the team as the 3rd TE is enough to confirm he's better than Fasano. Interesting.

Let's see:

3 catches

3TD's

cost = no draft pick

vs

28 catches - over 2 years!

1 TD

cost = 2nd round draft pick

And I saw one guy who made plays when he got the opportunity and another who failed to.

I'll take Curtis.

My gosh, all the teeth gnashing here over one guy (Ayodele) who was perhaps the worst starting player on the defense (A whopping 57 tackles over 16 games for your ILB in a 3-4?) and Fasano who was never ever going to be a starter.

The folks looking at this from a salary cap perspective are right. At least we got something for Ayodele, he wasn't going to make it out of training camp.

Fasano was OK, but backup TE's are a dime a dozen.

The people screaming that we got hosed are probably the same folks that thought we would get a 3rd round pick for Rashard Lee. :laugh2:

Wow....can't believe the overreaction of some here! We're talking about a backup TE and a LB who wasn't going to be on the team much longer. Curtis has a better upside than Fasano anyhow, not to mention he is healthier.

So how's the first beer of the day? :)

Juke? Is that guy still around here? I thought he went to the Dolphin board to wax philosophical about his buddy Parcells?

relax, Ayodele was probably going to be cut and Fasano might have been the third TE for what is the first pick in the fourth. I think it was a good deal for both teams.

Great deal for the Dolphins. Both guys will start for them next year. Its not often you get two young starters for a 4th round pick. Especially when they can step in immediately and already know your system.

It gives Dallas more ammo for a RW trade. I'm willing to package a #1 and #3.

I don't love this trade from the standpoint of Ayodele. Granted, he's not the greatest LB ever but I don't trust that Zach Thomas is healthy. I was not for that signing and I didn't see anything from Carpenter last year to make me believe he's the answer so what are we doing at LB? Ayodele was at least serviceable at LB so I wouldn't have moved him. You can't consider him a spare part when you only have an injury waiting to happen and a potential bust to replace him. We sure as heck better not be drafting another LB. I would've kept Ayodele and see how it all shakes out. As for Fasano, not a big deal, Curtis should replace him just fine. They should have been able to get an extra pick for 2 players, though.

Rewind to 2006 ... I was ripping into the Fasano pick like a mad be-otch on hormones.

Hindsight is 20-20, but we are to NEVER draft back-up players with day 1 picks.

Ayodele was a solid guy. Sadly he faded this year. Fasano had done about as much as anyone could backing up Witten who does not get injured and there is no TE in the NFL that really would start ahead of him. His injured shoulder was a worry even though reports were that it was OK. Its a great move for Fasano as he will be starting for the Fins. I really am surprised that we only got a 4th. The fins get 2 solid starters for a 4th.
