***Dallas trades Fasano and Akin to Miami for 4th round pick (#100)

I think they should have gone all the way and traded Fasano, Ayodele and Ellis for Jason Taylor!

(somebody was bound to say it)

Well, that's 3 of the 4 players I said could be traded this off season.

Ferguson
Ayodele
Fasano
Ellis

no. i was basing it off fasano's 1.

That's just TD catches. The 3 I was referring to were the entirety of Curtis' catches.

curtis is fine for what we need in a TE. it's not like witten has a threat out there to unseat him. i'm not saying curtis is better than fasano. do we really know much about either to get into a whizzing contest over them?

I agree, and I'm not trying to get into whizzing contest. I just think that Curtis is still an enigma, and am hesitant to join the slurp fest...just yet. :D

no.

curtis is a better blocker than fasano. that's what i'm basing it off of in the end. we need that badly and it's value gets lost in the glitter.

I have to disagree with this one. Blocking was one of Curtis' major issues while he was in camp, and I didn't often see him with too many blocking duties. He was primarily used as a receiving threat.

There were reports that Fasano was having trouble blocking, but they were mostly due to his trying to learn how to be an effective blockier out of the H-back role. He was a solid blocker from the line. IMO.

Like I said, I'm going to take this as a sign that our staff is high on Curtis. I think he had a higher ceiling than Fasano, so I'm not terribly upset by this, but I'm still not stoked when we give up two starters (for Miami, one of which was a second round pick two years ago) for a fourth round pick. I'd want something higher...a third at the very least.

Hell,I'm afraid to turn off the computer for the night, cause I'm skeered I'll miss something. I think Ice said it best that it's gonna get interesting!

I agree we had some good depth there.Well one thing is for sure, the
same people who drafted Fasano just went out and got him a second time.
:laugh2: Parcells loves him some Fasano, huh?

Still have the feeling this pick will be used for another trade,,,just can't figure out for what player.

I like the flexibility we get with this pick and the increase in the chance at getting Peyton Hillis. I'm a little football-gay for Peyton Hillis.

sweet! i can't wait to see all of the akin and fasono highlights 1 more time as cowboys

***...

Come on, Jerry, you know Parcells woulda given a third for those guys.

I do think Fasano was worthless, though.

Sometimes even we laymen can see awful draft picks.

I wonder how this affects the cap room? Did the Boys gain any additional room?

Sorry, but for a second round draft choice, his two seasons in Dallas were a disappointment.

28 catches in two years?

And Curtis had more TD's last season on his '3 catches' than Fasano did for his Cowboys career.

It was a mistake of a draft pick and I'm glad they got something in return.

Oh, I agree it was a bit of a disappointment. In hindsight, it was definitely the wrong pick....but that doesn't mean that Fasano was a bad player.

You and me both!

Rodney Hannah too!

Damn, I forgot about Hannah. Weren't there some glowing reports about him during last years' camp?

Bloody hell.

This is a dumb trade. There is really no point to it.

+1

why give up quality depth for an unknown? if this 4th rounder ends up being a canty or a barber then great, but really why the risk?

That shouldn't take long.

Don't blink.

lol....

Touche.

seriously, I hope everyone enjoys it....

I fear for our special teams next year.

On the flip side our team is going to be very young and I am imagining there is a chance we will have two new halfbacks, one fullback and one new tight end by monday.
