***Dallas trades Fasano and Akin to Miami for 4th round pick (#100)

I don't like the idea of trading away talent. Never know when injuries will hit. That is why New England does well. They keep quality backups.

Hopefully this means that the team has warmed up to Carpenter and not to Zach Thomas; he is slow, old and a walking concussion waiting to happen.

Your analysis of Thomas is....not so good. Thomas can still play his *** off.

And for all those talking about how Fasano and Ayodele, really we traded away a 2nd round pick that it took to get Fasano in the first place, so really its not such a great deal.

I agree.

Fasano pick was just so horrible considering we had no need for him when we drafted him. and please nobody mention the 2 TE crap that was supposed to be the reason! now we are having a lot of flexibility this draft with trades the last couple days... that i like!

just remember guys now we have more ammo to trade down or up...in the first 100 picks we have 5....alot of movement is coming...dont count out moving up to get mcfadden....and if mcfadden blows up barber wont get his money

I agree.

you're right. we didn't come out "on top" but no one would give up a 2nd for fasano. we in essence got a late 3rd and if you do # to # then yes, it's giving up. but if you look at where our needs are we never really needed fasano anyway. let's focus on what we do need, get it, and move on and not get all bent a trade went -1 in the end. what if fasano never does more than he's done here?

great deal on our part. so far it seems like a fair trade and some people are just bored and looking tob e bitter.

Wasnt it also to protect Drew Bledsoe?
Leave 2 TE's back there?

Hell,I'm afraid to turn off the computer for the night, cause I'm skeered I'll miss something. I think Ice said it best that it's gonna get interesting!

I've said it before, Tony Curtis looks like he's turning into player.

Better to get him on the field.

Yeah, it would have been nice to have gotten more value for Fasano, but Fasano's value would have been even lower after Curtis beat him out.

I think this trade is a marvelous sign that Jerry isn't letting his pride determine his evaluation of players. The Cowboys don't look good trading Fasano for less than where he was drafted, but the Cowboys are willing to do it anyway, because they want to cut their losses and get the best players on the field.

IMO, this trade is great news for Cowboys fans - primarily because it shows a refreshingly rational approach by the Dallas front office.

...and you're basing this on all three of Curtis' catches? Seriously, I don't see how any of us can pretend that we actually know what we have with him. It worries me that he was a longshot to make the team last year...although I guess this is a good sign that the team likes him.

I hope your not one of those "selective memory" people. Fasano played well for us. He'll be a starter, and likely a decent one, at Miami.

Fasano was a top TE coming out of college. You don't get those in the fourth round very often.

Sorry, but for a second round draft choice, his two seasons in Dallas were a disappointment.

28 catches in two years?

And Curtis had more TD's last season on his '3 catches' than Fasano did for his Cowboys career.

It was a mistake of a draft pick and I'm glad they got something in return.

All that being said, I'm hoping Curtis blows up this year.

You and me both!

Rodney Hannah too!

were you talking about *our* roy williams? we can't trade him. if you're talking detroit then i'm lost in this thread and all the activity going on and misunderstood you.

backing out to a cold beer now.

No big, just too many Roy Williams's.

I think the original post suggested trading #22 and this new 4th for Roy Willliams (Detroit).

Well, this is a good move, imo.

as long as everyone understands that Fasano may very well become a good te in this league. He has talent and he is certainly going to get his opportunity.

Having said that, he wasn't going to play here and Curtis really showed some great stuff last year. He should be fine in the backup role.

Also, that pick at the top of the 4th is extremely valuable. I won't be surprised to see us trade down with that pick for multiple picks.

I disagree. This is our year to make a run at SB. We don't even know if Thomas can play in our system or if he is healthy or can stay healthy. Akin is a proven commodity. He may not be great but we know what he brings. If nothing else, he can give you incredible depth and insurance for this yr.

As for Fasano, I don't care that he left. Curtis is better than Fasano.

I think Parcell is raping JJ in broad day light but JJ is smiling like a *****.:bang2:

Bloody hell.

This is a dumb trade. There is really no point to it.

On the new chart that is floating around (adjusting for the high cost of top picks), that would equal 1802 points, which lands right between the value of #3 and #4 overall (1825 and 1750).

WOW:bow:

yea those were the reasons... :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: You could have 20 men blocking and bledslow would have still gotten sacked at a high rate...

what exactly will you miss from akin? his zero sacks, his zero int's, his zero forced fumbles or his zero fumble recoveries?

I agree we had some good depth there.Well one thing is for sure, the
same people who drafted Fasano just went out and got him a second time.
