what exactly will you miss from akin? his zero sacks, his zero int's, his zero forced fumbles or his zero fumble recoveries?

Our run D wasn't what lost critical games for us. He was fine in run D. He wasn't great but he would have provided valuable depth if nothing else.

Do you know for SURE that Thomas can last the entire season without getting injured again? You think Carp is better???? Carp can't get on the field even he's given every chance possible. Do you know for SURE that some rookie LB can play that spot?

At least he is big enough to take on Jacobs. Thomas is going to get run over unless he can get to him before he heads up the field.

This is our year for a SB run. Why are we trading away a proven product for some unknown? Miami just got another starter ...maybe two. Face it, they got a great deal.

So could we say we essentially traded Fasano and Ayodele for Pacman?

Anyone think that was a bad deal?

the pick is essentially a 3rd with the pats losing their 1st rounder

A very late 3rd, but yeah you are right. Still think it is pathetic. I never did like the Fasano pick.

akin was on the way out anyway...he wasnt too happy about adding Thomas....so we get rid of a guy who was gonna have sour grapes next year.....goodbye. Fasano sucks. He dropped what would have been a TD against the Giants in the playoffs this year.

It would have been nice to get 100 and 245 from Miami.....just cause Dallas does a nice job of finding 6th and 7th round talent.....

Are we really in a position to shed LBs we know can play? Thomas is a concussion waiting to happen, and Carp has been underwhelming at best. Even Burnett isn't a model of health.

Hopefully this opens up the door for Kevin Burnett to finally have his chance to proclaim a starting role, with Zack Thomas spelling him

Dallas Cowboys deal Ayodele, Fasano to Dolphins for 4th-round pick

IRVING - On the eve of the NFL draft, the connection between the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins grew even stronger with a trade that sends tight end Anthony Fasano and linebacker Akin Ayodele to Miami for a fourth-round pick, according to two sources.

The move alleviates a logjam at linebacker after the Cowboys signed Zach Thomas in February but creates an opening at tight end behind Pro Bowler Jason Witten.

Fasano was a second-round pick in 2006 when the Cowboys were moving to more two-tight end sets under then coach Bill Parcells, who is now Miami's executive vice president. In two seasons, Fasano had 28 catches for 269 yards and a touchdown and is coming off reconstructive shoulder surgery.

Ayodele, an Irving native, returned to his hometown team two years ago as a free agent from Jacksonville and started 30 of 32 games, including two playoff contests. He had 106 tackles in 2006 and 95 last season, but he became somewhat expendable when the team signed Thomas, who was a seven-time Pro Bowler with the Dolphins.

By picking up the Dolphins' selection, the Cowboys essentially recouped the fourth rounder they will send to Tennessee in the Pacman Jones' trade and moved up 26 spots.

Entering today's draft, the Cowboys will hold picks Nos. 22, 28, 61, 92, 100, 163, 167 and 235.

The trade continues the Dallas-to-Miami connection that started when Parcells joined the Dolphins late last season. Jeff Ireland left the Cowboys to become Miami's general manager and was followed by pro personnel director Brian Gaine. Tony Sparano left to become the Dolphins' head coach and added assistants Paul Pasqualoni, Todd Bowles and Kacy Rodgers.

This has been proven to be wrong umpteen times on this forum. That simply isn't true, the coach himself even admitted it.

I'm really not worried about Akin... I think he could be replaced with any journeyman.

It's Fasano that I think had a little value. Or at least the two of them together.

I truly liked what Tony Curtis did last year, and was already hoping he'd get more playing time. He couldn't have made any more plays in his limited time than he did last year.

Gotta say, though, Parcells is off to a good start in building the 8-8 team for which he can be hailed a genius.

fasano is a player stupid move to let him go, there was not that big a drop off between him and witten and tight ends are cheap, relatively speaking. You don't drop that guy for a 4th rounder, I dig parcells and I wish him well but you don't drop fasano for a 4th, add in it took 2 players to equal a fourth and thats ********. aaron glenn realesed type stupid this was.

.

Him being healthy is an issue maybe. This quote isnt. I'm pretty sure Thomas has went heads up against much better RB's than Jacobs and just as big.

With all the former Cowboys in Miami, I think they owe it to us to change the emblem on the fish's helmet from an 'M' to a Cowboys' star.

Who's good with photoshop?

How dumb is Jerry? You're going to give the guy that spent a 2nd round pick on Fasano back the the same player, plus another linebacker for 1 4th round pick? After we gave them Fergy for a stupid swap in 6th?

When is Jerry going to stop bending over for Parcells?

right after you drop the hate at the door.

this isn't a bad move unless you're running low in jones-bullets.

Question for those of you upset with this.

Would you trade Fasano and Ayodele for Pacman and 26 places in the Draft?

That's essentially what we did. Yeah, Fasano was a 2nd round pick. So what? He was never going to unseat Witten and our Offense is not that 2 TE set Parcells dreamed up.

I like this trade. Ayodele was going to be released.
