fasano is a player stupid move to let him go, there was not that big a drop off between him and witten and tight ends are cheap, relatively speaking.

UHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lmao: :laugh2: :laugh1:

How dumb is Jerry? You're going to give the guy that spent a 2nd round pick on Fasano back the the same player, plus another linebacker for 1 4th round pick? After we gave them Fergy for a stupid swap in 6th?

When is Jerry going to stop bending over for Parcells?

i am going to miss fasano.

however this could be a move that sets up another move.

Or gives us the ability to bring in a tight end on the second day that fits more of what garrett wants to do with the position.

same thing at fullback. Those two guys hoyte and fasano may not have been a fit.

I know we have a great tight end coach in john garrett so maybe they are getting him a younger player more in the mold of what they want.

This is why I asked the question, how does this affect the cap? Maybe this could have also been a cap move regarding Akin.

Not a big fan of the trade... and I am sure Parcells and Ireland are laughing it up... at JJones pretending to know how to wheel and deal.

Oh well... like others said, maybe Fasano was hurt more then we know and Akin might have been pissed to the point of making things difficult in the lockerroom. I can't see the latter though since we just traded for Pacman??

Question for those of you upset with this.

Would you trade Fasano and Ayodele for Pacman and 26 places in the Draft?

That's essentially what we did. Yeah, Fasano was a 2nd round pick. So what? He was never going to unseat Witten and our Offense is not that 2 TE set Parcells dreamed up.

I like this trade. Ayodele was going to be released.

Well we traded a 4th, Fasano, Akin, and a 5th round pick for Pacman and 26 places in the 4th round.

Pacman being a guy that was going to be cut and 4th for a player that might end up being nothing.

Akin is no big loss. He was likely to be cut if not traded. Fasano was just a backup who was never going to be re-signed and was going to run off to Miami the first chance he got. This moved clears up cap room to make the move for a vet WR and get Barber signed. I like the deal and I think Miami should like the deal to.

right after you drop the hate at the door.

this isn't a bad move unless you're running low in jones-bullets.

What?

Neither of these guys are Pro-Bowlers, and if either had been traded for a 4th I could probably deal.

But BOTH?

Two players for what could legitimately turn into a non-starter?

Not hating anyone, 2 players, one of whom was your 2nd round pick a few years ago and the other a starter for a couple of years for a 2nd day pick is not a good deal any way you slice it.

I agree to a point...

Jerry is working on a bigger picture though. Adele and Fasano were addition by subtraction. Get that 4th rounder and dump some dead weight.

That is wacky that Bill drafted Fasano 2nd and get him and another starter for a 4th though.

Hate?

I hope you're kidding.

We have yet to get the better in any of the deals we've made this off season.

Fasano will be STARTING for them next season. They got a STARTER for a 4th round pick.

You wonder if Garrett wants a quick, athletic TE in the Novacek mold instead of the lumbering Fasano type.

Curtis (and Hannah) already are that athletic type, and I bet we grab another one somewhere.

Only because they suck.

Akin Ayodele signed a 5-year contract worth $17 million and a $5 million signing bonus. According to my rusty math, this would be a 600k hit against the cap this year. $3 million left of his signing bonus minus the $2.4 of his yearly salary.

I'm thinking that this move could impact the fullback spot more than anything.

Parcells phased it out, Garrett is phasing it back in.

Anybody complaining about this trade is crazy . Neither player was anything more than average . I am in love with this trade for the simple fact I KNOW that we are getting DMAC !!!!! And worst case senario we get (the good) ROY WILLIAMS ! CANT LOSE EITHER WAY !

Not the point. Pacman has nothing to do with this trade.

I don't think it's a question of whether or not we're better off...I think it's pretty clear that we are. I just think many of us think we could've gotten a little more on our end. I would have been a happy camper with the first 3rd.

All in all, I think it's pretty clear that Jerry is bundling up picks in the middle rounds to make sure we dont' miss out on our savior.....Owen Schmitt. :D

I don't kow if moving Fasano was a good idea. I thought he had something

That's exactly how I explained it to Mrs. BDC.

Her response "sounds like a decent deal for the Cowboys."

This pisses me off...

I went ballistic when we picked Fasano anyway and now we trade him and a starter for a single fourth after spending a second on him...

I hate that bastid. This better not be the end of this... we got gyped if it is...
