Schultz does have a place on this team and he’s going to be needed in critical games later in the season if we’re going make the playoffs. He’s been a very good player for the Cowboys the past two seasons but just because he’s been injured and he’s been playing with a backup QB all of a sudden he’s not needed? If we’re going to get anywhere we can’t be moving on from an experienced player and going with inexperienced players, especially if we make it to the playoffs. I’ll promise you once he gets healthy and Dak returns he’ll pay dividends.

I think it's way premature to say those guys are better, but they certainly could threaten Schultz' value to the team given Schultz salary. But that's for after the season. It makes no sense to says Schultz has no place this year given that he is already on the team and the team has a commitment to pay his salary

He's not the wide open guy out there drawing blanket coverage like last year. Not with Cooper mia.

Now that he's drawing more man to man he's turned back into a pumpkin. Lol

Our 12 TD a year te core last year has regressed back into a 3-4 TD a year te core without Cooper just like some people predicted.

All those te formation passing plays with very little to show for it for over 10+ years

Tonight proved, once again, that Dalton Schultz is a waste of money, and a waste of a roster spot. Hendershot and Ferguson are both better than Schultz and are making pennies in comparison.

Knowing Jerry, they will throw Schultz right back out there when he’s able to play. But if they were smart, they would let the young kids keep showing what they are capable of doing.
Another "mistake" stems from Dak as he's his favorite receiver being unable to locate or dare to throw to his WR.......

I rather see the rookies. Schultz is trash at blocking. And so far this year he doesn't look that much, if at all, better than the rookies. SAVE THE MONEY and let him go. Hopefully, someone, not named Dallas Cowboys, gives him a huge contract and get us a nice comp.

1 TD in 6 games by a te core is not very productive. Not when your passing scheme revolves around a dominant 11 and 12 personnel group on every snap. That's why our offense isn't that great.

Our dropoff at wr caused a bigger dropoff at the te position just as I EXPECTED.

Any te in this league could score 1 TD every 6 games playing 40 passing snaps per game. Js

Our scheme is built around jag tes who play every passing down but they don't have any big play capabilities.
I wouldn't judge the effectiveness of the receivers or TE's based on the past 5 weeks. Suffice it to say that the passing game and all who participated can expect more opportunity going forward.

Schultz is making $10 million this year, so not sure what the big deal is.. He's getting paid.

He's just not doing much.

I'm judging them by the last 10 years not the last 5 games. The cowboys will throw any jag te out there and make them an everydown ironman starter.

These tes win a few checkdown battles when the defender slips on a banana peel but never when it matters.

When's the last time a te made a game changing play for us.

Prolly have to go back to jay novachek highlights js

some of your posts make me want to puke. Prior to the draft the team made a decision. That decision was to keep a guy that was as good as any offensive TE in the league not named Kelce or Andrews. LATER they drafted Ferguson... why do you think that was? Maybe because part of their plan was to see if Ferguson could take over the TE position NEXT year, when they would let Schultz walk in free agency.

Do you just sit around and think about threads that you can whine about?

I've been on the Schultz wagon and have been very dissapointed this season. Being injured has been part of the problem, but it's clear he's a bigger part of this offense with Dak than without.

We'll see when Dak gets back, but the Cowboys may consider a trade before the deadline. I wonder if that may be part of the reason he was inactive today?

so the guy has basically been out or injured almost every game. Add in the fact our QB(Cooper) wasnt exactly lighting up that stats page and some of you want to blame schultz? How have Gallup's numbers looked so far this year? I can promise you they didnt sign Gallup to his deal to put up the kind of numbers he has had so far. So this is kind of a Schultz has looked bad so far this year..... uhm, no kidding.

2021 Dalton was amazing

2022 version makes me wanna throw my tv dinner
He's playing hurt. Not remotely himself.

Not arguing in favor of keeping him, but these folks watching him this year and judging seem to be forgetting that he is 75% at best.

I agree Schultz is trash but his production will improve when Dak is back because that's his check down guy.

Some idiot will still pay him, be it here or elsewhere.
Schultz is trash? smh, some of you are seriously clueless when it comes to productive players. You arent having a Kelce at every position.

141 rec and 12 tds over the past 2 years is what schultz had. Go name me the TE that had better numbers than the "Check down guy.

Here Ill help you out.

1)
2)

I dont think you need the 3, but I may be mistaken.

Jason Witten?

1 playoff TD in a losing effort by a DC Te in 15+ years sums it up.

Maybe 10 yrs ago #82 made a game changing catch in his prime years. But nothing recently.

You're not gonna get a stud te shopping in the undrafted pool and bargain basement bin.

Several stud tes have been there in fa for the taking over the past 10 years.

But we stuck w these flatfooted blockers who can't go up and get a ball in the red zone and score.

Whats even worse is we use them as receivers on critical passing plays even if it's 3rd and 24 lmao. They've come up empty handed every single time in the clutch bruh for 10+ years. But we still send them out there like they're making plays. Its ridiculous statistically.

We can talk about bad breaks and injuries and make excuses all we want.

But the facts are what they are.

Schultz was simply better when we had Cooper Wilson and Jarwin when healthy and his success was a byproduct of the potency around him.

I predicted exactly how things would play out this year offensively with precise accuracy.

I just want our best 5 skilled players on the field w our QB more often. Especially on critical downs and distances

Very seldom do our tes execute on critical downs when it matters going wayyyyyy back

This scheme is set up for the tes to take what the defense gives ya but the defenses are pretty darn stingy on critical downs and our guys fold like a cheap suit esp outside or division or against winning teams.

Schultz was billed as an in-line blocker coming out of Stanford, but he's turned out to be closer to a big slot like the spread offenses used to love.

Those guys are out of fashion with the Shanahan / McVay offense ruling the league. The TE in that scheme has to be able to turn edge defenders outside, and that's not a block Schultz can consistently make.

We use our TEs more traditionally as well, as blockers and checkdown options. Schultz is fine for checkdowns but really screws up the blocking part of it.

Anyway, he's not really a fit here, not to where I'd want to pay him big money. And I think he will have a cold market in free agency.
