Dan Quinn or Sean Payton?

Wouldnt be surprised at all if something like this has already been tentatively discussed and factored into DQs decision to stay. It's assuming a lot, but makes sense at the same time. I'm just not sure what MM's role would actually look like unless Jerry was seriously ready to take a step back. They already have a semi GM in McClay mashed up with Jerry/Stephen.

Unofficially, they're almost doing it now.

Quinn has complete control on defense and a big voice in the draft.

Kellen Moore does what he wants on offense.

McCarthy does press conferences and schedules practices. He also gets the blame for losses while Quinn & Moore get credit for wins.

I still don't get why people are even convinced Payton would come. He knows Jerry, and I can't imagine he would want a situation where an owner/GM controls areas he would want to control himself

If Mike McCarthy is fired after this season, would you rather bring in Sean Payton or promote Dan Quinn to head coach?

DQ has totally transformed the Cowboys Defense so much so that regardless of how this season ends for the Cowboys, he's gonna be head coach somewhere. Part of me would rather it be here, even at the potential expense of potentially bringing in Sean Payton.

why would McCarthy be fired? lets say we go to playoffs and make it to the NFCCG....unless Jerry says, its NFCCG and nothing but and fires McCarthy..

I think Sean Payton is over rated. much like McCarthy. what has he done to deserve so much respect? he had Brees, a sure HOF QB and achieved one Superbowl. he had a scandal with his defense under his watch and since, accomplish not much and had a loaded team.

Based on how things are going, Mike isn’t going anywhere. BUT if they fail in the playoffs, it would probably be because the D wasn’t difference maker so Payton would be the replacement IMO.

Dan Quinn ..... Never been impressed with Payton.

But it really does not matter who is coach as long as Jerry is making all the decisions including playing time.

What impressed you about Dan Quinn as a head coach? We get that he’s been a great DC over his career but other than the one Super Bowl appearance in Atlanta, where his team coughed up the biggest lead in Super Bowl history his record as a HC wasn’t very good. He only had two winning seasons as an HC in six years. All his teams did was cough up big leads, and one of those leads was a 20 point lead against us when the Cowboys had an historically bad defense in 2020. He’s one of those coaches that’s better suited at being a coordinator than an HC.

This doesn't sound like a guy who would work for Jerry and Stephen Jones:

MM has been doing a fantastic job........why are people so reluctant to get rid of everyone so fast? It's obvious some people don't know the difficulties/responsibilities of being a HC in the pros. Don't get rid of MM, I love the culture our team has.
