Dan Quinn or Sean Payton?

Just as a general reminder, MM started looking MUCH better as a coach when Quinn showed up. When Nolan was here people wanted MM gone in his first year.

Its really is Quinn that is driving this bus from a staff standpoint. MM admitted that he didn't even know the offense, let alone the defense. No way I let Quinn walk just to save MM. MM really doesn't even do that much. Do people want to keep him around for his "game management" skills?

I would also take Quinn over Payton at this point.

Game mgmt skills are what a HC does.

It's the right now narrative bro. It's a totally coordinator driven team in which the DC has had more success than the OC recently.

This HC, as his predecessor, was merely a figurehead title holder.

His so called management of the team is staying out of offensive and defensive game planning.

The split second he faces stiffer competition or playoffs, the head coaching will again be on full display to see if he's coached his team up over last year's nervousness while standing by if/when Kellen struggles and not offering any actual input.

If Mike McCarthy is fired after this season, would you rather bring in Sean Payton or promote Dan Quinn to head coach?

DQ has totally transformed the Cowboys Defense so much so that regardless of how this season ends for the Cowboys, he's gonna be head coach somewhere. Part of me would rather it be here, even at the potential expense of potentially bringing in Sean Payton.

Thoughts?
Yup I'll find an offensive coordinator or who knows maybe kellen Moore will come around
I'm betting Payton heads for the chargers with the likes of Herbert to play with

Payton with Quinn as DC. Payton with ALL football team decision power. Payton's offense and no Moore.

That was a good dream.
Soooo... give Payton ALL football decision making power, but force Quinn on him?
How does that work?

Do you think that MM is good at that?

Personally, I think he is mediocre at best as a game manager. I don't see any reason why his game management skills would dictate keeping him while letting Quinn walk.

Good point. Touche.
Guess I was assigning a DC to the HC.
Just as the previous 2 OCs have been assigned to the HC.
So more like Payton with his own personally chosen staff.
My bad. I guess I just liked the pairing from a fans standpoint.

Sean Payton isn't coming to the Cowboys, so this thread is moot. Even if Jerry promises Sean that he'll stay out of the way, everyone knows he's a liar.

Why is it Dan Quinn is the next coming of Lombardi? How great did he do in Atl? Is he gonna all of the sudden be the next greatest HEAD COACH? He was fired in Atlanta just a few short years ago? Yes?

I like Payton.. but why do you think he quit and walked away? It was because he is smart enough to know that his reputation was about to take a hit because since his HOF QB retired his team was gonna suck, just like they do right now without Payton.

Im ok with big mike, Quinn, Payton... it doesnt matter as long as we can keep this amount of young talent on the roster. Thats what it is about... the players.

I would just as soon see the Cowboys win the SB and not go through any coaching change.

the fact we're talking about firing MM after being 6-2 going into the BYE our fanbase literally stirs up nonsense for no reason... same bull jive as the Zeke vs. Pollard debate

If you are talking strictly as head coach, it’s not even a legitimate question. Sean Payton all day long. Plus he would bring some changes and nuance to the offensive system that McCarthy has not.

If you are talking making Quinn the head coach just to keep him in charge of the defense, then you at least have an argument. However, many coordinators give up calling the O or D when they become head coaches, even though they may still influence it.

I love what Quinn has done with our defense, but if he leaves, I feel there are at least a couple guys he brought in who could take over and do a good job.

Despite Kellen Moore’s rep with the media and fans, I’d prefer a new coach who brings in a new or updated offense.

27 years and counting.
Would prefer to keep Dan Quinn and just walk away from Big Mike no matter the outcome. I guess if we win the SB we have to keep him but otherwise move off of him.

So if he leads the team to a SB win, you still want to move away from MM? Why?

If Jerry wants him, he'll be the new head coach. You guys pretending nobody wants to come to Dallas are just wrong. It should be the case but it's simply not.

Yes I would. Many of you won't believe me but back in 2007 when we lost to the Giants, the Cowboys should have fired Wade and that is what I was telling all my friends/ Cowboys fans/ co-workers. People thought I was crazy but the truth is once a coach is in the building the players know who he is, they know who runs the show.
Quinn i guarantee demands more respect than Big Mike.
