In the infamous words of our leader it doesn't really matter.
500 coaches could lead this team to a championship with the talent I bring in.

And we are still waiting since '95.

I still don't get why people are even convinced Payton would come. He knows Jerry, and I can't imagine he would want a situation where an owner/GM controls areas he would want to control himself

I have always heard he is family close to the Jones family and that would not be a problem.

Point: No, what Quinn does is not that easy to do. There are only a few "good" DC's in the NFL.

I dont want to make this a big deal but providing the name of a poor coordinator does not invalidate what i said.

Yes I would. Many of you won't believe me but back in 2007 when we lost to the Giants, the Cowboys should have fired Wade and that is what I was telling all my friends/ Cowboys fans/ co-workers. People thought I was crazy but the truth is once a coach is in the building the players know who he is, they know who runs the show.
Quinn i guarantee demands more respect than Big Mike.
Okay, I guess.
I respect where you're coming from.
I might not agree, but I respect.

If Jerry wants him, he'll be the new head coach. You guys pretending nobody wants to come to Dallas are just wrong. It should be the case but it's simply not.

Jerry doesn't always get what he wants and Payton will cost him more than money. Also, I didn't say nobody wants to go to Dallas, I just don't think Payton will.

If Mike McCarthy is fired after this season, would you rather bring in Sean Payton or promote Dan Quinn to head coach?

DQ has totally transformed the Cowboys Defense so much so that regardless of how this season ends for the Cowboys, he's gonna be head coach somewhere. Part of me would rather it be here, even at the potential expense of potentially bringing in Sean Payton.

Thoughts?
Sean Payton is a bloated troll .

I disagree. I think Quinn's adaptability is what drives this defense. For instance, using Parsons in so many ways. A lot of DCs would have just left him in the LB role and missed out on all the brilliance.

I don't know maybe. I think that when guys start approaching the NFL level in their coaching careers they generally are extremely knowledgeable and for the most part they would figure what to do with Parsons and the others on this defense. Are there examples of poor NFL coaches, certainly but for the most part these guys know what they're doing.

Keep Quinn no matter what it takes. Defense has never looked this dominant in over 25 years.

This doesn't sound like a guy who would work for Jerry and Stephen Jones:

Payton said it’s all about having the kind of ownership and front office he thinks he can work well with and will help him build a winning culture. Payton said there are some NFL teams that simply aren’t “functional,” and those teams, Payton said, he’d never coach for.

“There’s a handful of teams that aren’t, and those teams, regardless of what takes place, they can win on Sunday but they have trouble winning long term,” Payton said.
Quick counter argument: Sean worked for the Joneses before and f
Why fire a coach that went 4-1 with a backup QB?
Agreed, but by all accounts Jerry loves Sean Payton. If the 2022 Cowboys don't at least make the NFC Championship game, I think Mike McCarthy is a goner.

I think you would have to factor in what Kellen Moore is doing, if He gets a head coaching position then Sean Payton would be my choice if he stays you go with Dan Quinn.

Peyton no question
I know players love him but the HC should be someone who will hold Jerry in check and is a hardass with players and I don’t the feeling DQ can do those things

I just can't see justification for firing MM, unless this team has some monumental collapse. I know not everybody is a fan, but he's winning here, even with back QBs. I get everybody is concerned about winning in the postseason, so time will tell, but so far he has been doing his job.

And that is the rub. Post Season success. I believe Jerry has wanted Sean Payton for a long time another Super Bowl winning coach. If MM does not have post season success this year Jerry may want to make the change to Payton. What happens with Kellen Moore is also a factor. If Kellen Moore leaves to take a head coach position Payton would be my choice. The problem there is Dak will have to learn Sean Payton system. And that may take a few seasons catch 22.

Our previous one wasn't half as good as Quinn.

How about Payton as the OC? Just a thought.

Unfortunately Payton is unlikely to accept OC because he will have several headcoaching opportunities. But I believe he will want to be in Dallas his best opportunity to win now not much of a rebuild here.
