Now I see why I was confused.

103.3 is playing part of the KTBB interview now. They'll talk to him themselves at 4:20.

Damn... Dan sounds crushed that this didn't work out. :(

Sounds as if GAC just smoked Smoaky.

I agree, Dan sounds real down. He really thought he had a role in VR.

It's quite simple. Jones read all the stories about how Reeves was coming in to help get the Cowboys straightened out.

Jones sat down and realized the if the Cowboys somehow managed to win it all this year, that Reeves, not him, would get all the credit nationally.

He then changed his mind about Reeves so he went to Reeves with new parameters to his job, that he knew Reeves would not accept. Reeves did not accept them and now he is gone.

Bottomline.

Galloway's theory is Dan didn't want to be at VR 24/7. I dont get it, as he turned down OC at SF to take this job.

He's not alone.
Nope... I'm about to tear up myself. :(

But he did say that this wasn't any kind of conflict with Jerry. Said he was actually looking forward to working with him -- it was just this one thing in the contract they couldn't agree on.

He said he was going to have a coaching and an advisory role. Interesting.

Said TO did come up, and almost everyone you talk to has a different opinion of TO. Says we have a hard decision coming up and he doesn't know which way we'll go.

He also was asked what he saw in his few days here, and he said he saw an organization that was very close. But that he knows from his time in the league that the little things make a big difference. That's one reason he was excited to be here, because he thought he could make a real difference.

Did I mention I was about to cry? :cry2:

Yeah, someday I'll realize that this isn't the same Cowboys I loved most of my life.

Reeves Speaks On Split With Cowboys

Posted by jellis at 2/5/2009 3:25 PM CST on truebluefanclub.com

Dan Reeves just checked in with The Fan (680 AM) in Atlanta to talk about his stalled negotiation with the Cowboys, and while he still isn't telling the exact contractual sticking point between he and the team, he did elaborate on the situation.

"It didn't have anything to do with authority," Reeves said. "I was going to do anything to answer to the general manager and the head coach. Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips had the ability to have me do anything, whether it be involved with the football aspect of it, (or) the front office part of it."

Reeves again mentioned how busy Jones is with promoting his new stadium, which he said he would have been excited to get involved with. The three-time NFL head coach said he would've likely devoted most of his football-related attention to the offensive side of the ball, working with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, but also lend his opinion on personnel matters. He spent two-and-a-half days working with the offensive staff, and said he watched several tapes, with his eye on the running game in particular.

He said the first thing he told Jones was he would give the owner what he needed to hear. In the end, neither side was willing to budge on certain contract details.

"I thought we had an agreement on Tuesday afternoon. We had worked through all of the things that were a concern for both of us," Reeves said. "The last thing was kind of a sticking point. I thought the deal was done, and then the next day when the contract came out it had several things in there that Jerry felt like he needed to have in the contract.

Reeves admitted that the last-minute split was uncommon in the NFL, but then again so was going to work without a finalized contract.

Dude.

Reeves is all over the world today on this whole thing.

I already have two interviews with him from the Ticket and The Fan in Atlanta.

Plus he's going on Ben and Skin and he's going on GAC too.

The man is soooo disappointed.

And he says that there are numerous people at Valley Ranch with differing opinions on Terrell Owens.

He won't get into specifics though. Bt he says he was coming in for full time 24/7 job so that was not a problem for him which is being reported.

What a mess.

So he was here to keep a check on Garrett... Got his shirt-rolled up and was ready to work...

I saw in an article someone found in a Georgia paper that Reeves said something to the effect that "If you saw what the sticking point was, you'd think it was so trivial that you'd ask 'That's it? Why didn't you just sign it?' But if it's important to him and to me, maybe it's not so trivial."

I have no idea what this could be.

Dan Reeves, We Hardly Knew Ya

By Richie Whitt in Dallas Cowboys

Two days and a cloud of dust ...

Dan Reeves - who played for and coached for and still bleeds for the Dallas Cowboys - soured on the inner workings of Valley Ranch in 48 hours.

Question: What took him so long?

Reeves, remember, turned down the offensive coordinator's gig with the San Francisco 49ers to serve as a consultant to head coach Wade Phillips and owner Jerry Jones.

Two days on the job and - poof - Reeves bolted.

Why?

Because Reeves is a football guy who likes to win, not a bull**** guy who likes to be popular.

Because, guarantee, Reeves didn't see eye-to-philosophical-eye with Jones.

And because of, you guessed it, Terrell Owens.

Uh yeah... Is that why Reeves said the following:

Reeves again mentioned how busy Jones is with promoting his new stadium, which he said he would have been excited to get involved with. Notice, RUNNING GAME IN PARTICULAR... THE ONE JASON GARRETT DIDN'T USE....

Seriously... That is a just a BS excuse by Reeves... He supposedly is flat-out disappointed, so the thing must have been pretty big for him to refuse.
