Now Philly gets to pay 50 million per year for their qb. Now we get to see their gm in action.
Hurts has more leverage than Jones. Based solely on perception, it will be hard for the Eagles to refuse to pay Hurts and let him walk. Ironically, that is probably what the Eagles should do….let Hurts play out his contract and walk or trade him for multiple picks.

It’s amazing how fans expect players to take friendly deals rather than maximizing on their generational wealth. Only reason dudes like Mahomes have incentive otherwise is because they know they have a potential legacy to build so it makes sense to shave off a little bit of money in exchange for that
Mahomes will eventually be the winner by working out a more team friendly deal. The amount he will receive in endorsements will vastly outpace the differences between what he is being paid and market value which is currently higher than his salary.

Well yeah but Daniel Jones isn’t ever going to be Patrick Mahomes…so that’s why I understand someone like him maximizing all he can while the preverbal iron is hot

I’d honestly look at a guy foolish who leaves money on the table. Mahomes is different. But these owners have the money. Any money they save on you they will just give it to someone who doesn’t deserve it. I saw the Cowboys talk about this piece of the pie crap just to use the money on Collins and Jaylon.

Hmmm. Each situation is different.

Do you think part of his motivation is that the team around him and the coaching staffs (until last year) has been pretty crappy during his time there and he wants to get protected from being run into the ground if they don't get him some help?

In no way do I think he's worth these amounts, regardless of the "QB market" but I can sorta see his POV in taking this stance.

Would be sorta interesting if they couldn't come to terms & he ended up with the Jets ....
He's doing this because it's what all QBs do off of rookie contracts. Full market value or nothing. If he accepts less, then teams might expect others to as well.

I just think he's stupid if refuses something like 35M. Why is he worrying about those that follow him? He'd rather go to another team on a one year 10M prove it deal? That's kind of dumb to me.

I will crack up if they give him 45M a year.

Dak had no weapons and actually got us a wildcard away game victory against the G.O.A.T. while reaching the division round, yet a majority here chastise Dak while feeling sympathetic towards Daniel Jones.
Holy Crap on a cracker AC. "Dak had no weapons"??? What are you even talking about?

Dak has NEVER played with as little supporting cast as Jones. Even after Pollard went down in SF we still had as much or more on offense and certainly better on defense.

You have no choice but pay or start over
This is what some don't get..........not a lot of options. Now imagine a coach with only a few years left on his deal. I seriously doubt he wanna risk those years on an unproven rookie.

He ain't getting that......they'll tag him twice and let him walk first. But don't rule out a short-term deal.........maybe 3 years with 2 years guaranteed in the $35-38M range.

Really? Name them. Make the distinction in players.

Or Daniel Jones could hold out and force the Giants' hand.

Not at all.

He’s not getting $45 million. Not from them, not from anyone else.

They can take him for two years and pay far less than $45 million a year.

That buys them time to find their next guy.
45 million is a laughable figure and have no idea what Jones has proven to even earn half that amount. Jones was very good scrambling, and managed to stay healthy this year, but also threw only 15 tds.

I would just franchise him too, if he holds out so be it, I would go for Carr and trade Jones.
