Darnold > Prescott

You're absolutely right. The COWBOYS OFFENSE scored 12 points vs the 49ers. I have no problem with what you said.

Now with that said, in that same game, we had 14, 15 penalties playing against a 49ers defense that was ranked number one.

We know Dak isn't elite. But can you name me ANY quarterback elite OR non-elite who was able to overcome that many team penalties vs a number one ranked defense in a playoff game.

Now if it hasn't been done before by even ELITE quarterbacks.... explain to me why you expect an NON elite quarterback to do something that has never been done before.

I'll respectfully wait.....
"We had 14/15 penalties"? Oh so now it's "we"? Dak is the leader of the offense...if he couldn't command the respect and discipline of his troops...oh well...Sam Darnold did. Even the lowly Trent Dilfer did it and won a SB. So...what now?

You keep moving the goalposts by making stuff up. We actually had 14 penalties..but for 89 yards. The 49ers had 9 for 58.

IT WASN'T THE PENALTIES THAT HURTS US:

why are you laughing so much. are you nervous or something?

I asked a simpel question and you have done everything you can not to answer because you know you are going to get cornered.

and you keep going back to the playoff game and pulling it out. should I pull a couple of them he scorched the other team. how about the tampa game? how about the GB game in 2016 when we scored 31. shouldn't that be enough?

again, like I said in my other response, you are just pulling comments from Hate Dak Cult book of responses and just choosing one.
You said Dak doesn't have any help. Well, I gave you a game in which he was the REASON we lost. Except, it's never him...it's always some excuse. So you cherry pick his best year and say, "What if Dak had a defense?"

If I were a HotBoyz fan like Demarcus Lawrence I would say, "What if we had a QB that didn't choke with that defense?"

GAME-SET-MATCH

Seattle gave up nearly 30 pts to the Rams in the NFC. CG

You take Darnold away from that game, and replace him with Dak, EVERYTHING else being equal, and Seattle is down 14 going into the final 7 minutes of the game, with 2 or 3 INTs already thrown by Dak.

Seattle loses... but Dak uses last 7 min to dink and dunk down the field to secure a 7 point loss, but 80 more yards of garbage stats and a meaningless TD as time expires, and then Jerry/Dak fans everywhere yelling "WE WOULD BEATEN THE RAMS IF THE DEFENSE DIDNT GIVE UP 30 PTS!!!!!!!"
Gospel.

Okay...let's have a look:

2025 defensive EPA...ranked #2 [Seattle]...1st ppg [17.2]...QBR = 57.3
2024 defensive EPA...ranked #3 [Minnesota]...5th ppg [19.5]...QBR = 55.7

It's a helluva lot easier to make it to a title game with two top three defenses than it is with one ranked dead last in the league...giving up 30.1 ppg.

Prescott had a better season than Darnold when it comes to QBR...both passing and rushing EPA.

If you are judging him by the 2022 playoffs then it's fair...but he's better now than he was then. Given how he played in 2023 and 2025 I'm willing to give him one more top three defense...then I'm off the ship.
oh right, but you forgot to mention that Dakota has had a top 10 scoring defense for 7 out of his 10 seasons. So....

"We had 14/15 penalties"? Oh so now it's "we"? Dak is the leader of the offense...if he couldn't command the respect and discipline of his troops...oh well...Sam Darnold did. Even the lowly Trent Dilfer did it and won a SB. So...what now?

Okay im sorry.... you want to play the semantics game. I was wrong, it was only Dak who didn't score more than 12 points.... it wasn't the responsibility of our offense.

Did you know we tied for the most penalties in a playoff game in NFL history?

If the penalties never hurt us, then why haven't there ever been any teams in NFL history that has won a playoff game vs a number one defense after committing 14 penalties?

Again, how did i move a goalpost by telling the truth. Our 14 penalties really happened in real life. So once again, if no quarterback in NFL history has ever won a playoff game vs a number defense in the playoffs..... why would you expect a non-elite quarterback like Dak to pull of something that ELITE quarterbacks have never done?

While you think of an answer for that.....

You said Dak couldn't command and respect and discipline of his troops as to why we had league record 14 penalties in the playoff game.... the you said, oh well, Sam Darnold did?

You just lied my friend. The Seahawks didn't overcome 14 penalties vs a number one defense in that playoff game. So Sam Darnold didn't get his troops through that penalty filled obstacle.

No quarterback in history has ever overcome 14 penalties in a playoff game vs a number one defense. With that said, I enjoy debating with you but things would be much better without lies. No need for that.

So the game where we had 14 penalties was the 23-17 playoff game.

The 19-12 playoff game we had 7 penalties.

And keep in mind not all of those 14 were on offense, not sure why Dak has to overcome 14 penalties on offense.

Yes team sport but there is no defending Dak on these 2 games. He didn't do enough to win for his experience, salary, etc, he let the team down.

I love TB but I say the same thing in their losses to NYG. They had to do more on offense, especially that 2007 season where they had the #1 offense. The loss in the SB sits on Tom's shoulders first.

Dak is not exonerated for the second 49er playoff loss, but 14 penalties in the first one?

Do you realize how many times in that game we made a nice play for a first down but it gets called back for holding or illegal formation? Now you're behind the chains at 2nd and 20 or 3rd and 15. Do you realize an offense cannot get into a rhythm that way?

No the offense didn't commit all of those 14 penalties, but when you're playing against THE NUMBER ONE DEFENSE, how much room for error do you think an offense has?

Let's slide over to the defensive side of the penalties....

If it's 3rd and 7 to go for the 49ers and we get pass interference, hands to the face, offsides, and illegal contact penalties, when will the offense get back on the field again to try to get in rhythm vs a NUMBER ONE DEFENSE?

I blame that loss on the whole team AND coaching staff, but if you let most people around here tell the story, we somehow loss the game solely because of Dak. They mysteriously leave out the part about the most penalties committed in a playoff game. (I wonder why)

Here's the one question NONE of them has answered because they are afraid it won't line up with their narratives. The question is....

If no quarterback in NFL history, elite or non-elite has ever led their football team to a playoff victory vs a team fielding a NUMBER ONE DEFENSE after their own team committed a league high 14 penalties in a playoff game, why was Dak expected to be the first in NFL history to do it?

In 100 years of football, the greatest HOF quarterbacks to have ever lived never done it.... so how would a non-elite quarterback like Dak be expected to pull that off?

Again..... its strange how his biggest detractors avoid that question like a wasp nest.

when did I say dak doesn't have any help? I said Dallas doesn't have a good defense. what would Dallas be like if we had a good defense.

Dak lives in your head rent free. you can't think, eat, drink, walk or do anything without thinking Dak. he is on your mind 365x24x60x60.

btw, glad you woke up from your coma, you got knocked out a while back and you are just waking up. sorry to deliver you the bad new, but you lost the match really badly. you don't belong in this leage...

but I am glad you are ok. recovery is going to take you a while. take it easy

Great post.

Darnold definitely delivered on offense and had a great number one ranked Seattle defense to compliment him.

With that said, do you believe Darnold would have led this Cowboys team with the NFLs worst defense to the Superbowl this year?
Never argued that. Dont twist things around to defend Dak.

Never argued Darnold was Josh Allen or Mahome or Stafford.

Just that he's better (now, this year ) than Dak is and ever was.

No, he wouldn't have led the Cowboys to the SB. But he DID lead the Seahawks to the SB. And what I'm arguing (not really arguing, just acknowledging reality), is that DAK wouldn't have done what Darnold did. He would not have led the Seahawks to the SB if he was their QB, and everything else was equal.

They never woulda had the #1 seed with Dak, with the exact same team. They never woulda outdueled the Rams and HOFer Stafford with Dak in the playoffs. He would choked in the playoffs . Like he always does. Like he's always done

How is Darnold better this year?

was Seahawks defense a primary reason for seattle success? we simply won't know if Dak could have or not because he didn't benefit from Seattle defense. you are making assumptions. Darnold great benefited from a defense that gave up average of 17 points. they won 3 games this year scoring less than 20. when was the last time cowboys won a game like that?

I am not defending Dak, just because I am not incessantly dumping on him doesn't mean I am defending him, which is a mistake Hate Dak Cult members tend to make.

The penalty issue is a fair argument for that game, and I agree you can't put that loss on any one player, but we also need to review the impact Daks play had on some of those offensive penalties.

  • 1 was a delay of game, which is typically on the QB. I don't remember the call specifically so it could have also been an intentional delay of game for punting room or something like that?
  • 4 offensive holdings....were any of those due to Dak holding the ball too long or moving poorly around the pocket?
  • 1 illegal shift...Could be on the player that shifted, could also be on the QB for not timing the snap properly
  • 2 false starts....Rarely a QB issue
I'm not specifically blaming Dak for any of these, but without going back and watching the penalties (which I have not) we also can't exonerate Dak from fault on these offensive penalties as well.

Well said. I’m surprised you still carry on this endless debate. I try to stay out of it but the mood strikes….

Bottom line is simple…he is fine enough to win with, but also expected to do unrealistic things like over come shortcomings littered thoughout the rest of the roster….and this should happen due to the size of his paycheck.

I think Jerry is also guilty of thinking and/or figuring Prescott is better than he actually is. He is a good QB who is more than capable of winning, but will not be able to overcome a poor supporting cast, and can only be counted on to take a team on his back to a point.

I think people tend to believe that if they were paying Dak like 10m less that the difference would have been spent on some stud defender that makes all the difference. No. Not here. Maybe you’d still have like Tyler Biadasz, or Dorance Armstrong.

They can win with Dak, but he needs the help. I don’t know that he will ever get it in Dallas, as misevaluating the state of the roster always bites them in the end. Gaping holes will be exploited by the better teams.

We could win a super bowl w/ Dak at 30 mil. We won't paying him 60 mil.

Dorance Armstrong and Lewis would've made a huge difference. Good chance we make the playoffs just w/ those 2. Add in a low level LB or 2, and we definitely make the playoffs.

feelings are almost raw from the love-hate fest.

It will not be long before the emotional fights begin. Ooops, too late, they have already started.

Yeah but there’s no way the market dictated that he would be paid anything near that low.

They would have had to have let him go to find out, and if they did a team like the Raiders would have given him exactly what he is getting now. Jerry had no plan B.

I think if you swap Prescott and Darnold this year each team is in the same spot.

They don’t sign top free agents as a policy. I have no reason to believe that any Dak discount would have been used to improve the team and neither did he, which is why he shouldn’t have ever taken less.

He has been here for what seems like forever and a day, and this FO hasn’t bothered to sign ONE significant FA since years BEFORE he arrived. If they are supposedly doing all they can to win, I’m not sure how it’s ever expected to happen because they aren’t particularly close on the whole.

oh, you forgot to blame him for defensive penalties. its all no matter what Dak's fault.

when we win, its never ever never Dak. its the rest of the team carrying him. its the janitor helping, its section 25-, row 34A through 34H, its the sun and how its aligned, its the turf on the stadium being favorable, its players from other team, its the refs, its the league, its never ever Dak.

All good stuff, everybody else, all the bad stuff regardless is Dak's fault.

got it?

we had 65M on the cap this year. why couldn't se sign those two? last year we finished with 25M on the cap avialable, the year before we had 20M.

I am not so sure about Armstrong.... but Lewis I would have liked to keep. his 25 cap hit was 5M.

call it a stupid GM decision.

And from what I'm hearing, we're like 60 mil over this next season, and that's w/ rolling over the cap space from last season.

AI says we only had 2-4 mil in cap space. Where'd you hear 25?
