See, I don't remeber Wiley saying that Parcells asked him that question right off the bat.

I could be wrong, but I didn't think I heard that.

That would just be strange, if Parcells did do that though. Although, Parcells did have alot strange ways to motivate players.
Well I heard him say that, and so did Hos.

He talked about his initial meeting with Parcells. Parcells asked him if he was on drugs.

It does when you are talking about Parcells in less than glowing terms evidently.
Given the success of the team, it makes me want to do a spiteful thing and bring back Kittymama's parting blasts at Cowboys fans and the team and let evereyone get their shots in again.

Totally disagree with you on this. Tedy Bruschi once told me that Belicheck is so thorough in breaking things down that you can understand exactly what he expects of you and why.

Insert obligatory, he's just bitter - what does he know post.

And when that is "inserted" it would be the truth.

Wiley was Jerrah's idea of a quick fix for the pass rush. He had nothing left, as was shown. Its interesting that 3 years later he decides to talk about it.
Some here seem to think that BP was to blame for Wiley being unable to produce. Bottom line he was a failed FA.

Wiley developed a reputation in San Diego of letting his nightlife and partying take priority over his football career. That's one of the reasons they released him. He even started working part time as a club DJ. I imagine that had more to do with the drug comment than anything.

Wiley was really only successful with Wade Phillips as his coach. Maybe Jerry realized after getting Wiley that Wiley really sucked, and it was because of Wade that he actually got to a QB.

And that is why Jerry started paying attention to a different detail. And now, we have Wade....

Parcell's 'reservations' on Drew Bledsoe and Vinny Testaverde were definitely off...

Look at most of the guys Jerrah wanted here: outside of TO, who has really produced?

Uh, Leonard Davis, Hamlin, Demarcus Ware....

Wiley really only had two good seasons. His best season was in San Diego and Wade was not his coach that year. His second best season was in Buffalo when Wade was coach.

FA's. Jerrah or Wade did good this year. Bigg and Hamlin were quality pickups. BUT prior to that Jerrah's record on FA's was not all that good. Glover is the only one outside of TO that really produced.

Henry...Colombo...Kosier...Ferguson...Ayodele, you could take or leave - but he's a starter.

I think we've done pretty well with FAs we brought in to start for some time now. Rivera was really the only complete waste of time and money.

I was talking about guys that JERRAH wanted and BP did not.

I don't think there's any way to legitimately make that distinction.

To be fair, Parcells had no input on bringing in Hamlin or Davis. He had already stepped down. He very well may have wanted both more than any other players. We don't know.

Valid point.

Unfortunately, people have been trying to make that distinction since Parcells first arrived at VR.

Sack-wise maybe... But Wiley absolutely destroyed his mark on assists at San Diego the year prior at Buffalo by 15, with Wade as coach. And the difference in sacks was really trival, 2.5 extra sacks at San Diego. This clearly shows that Wiley benefitted from a Wade Phillips pressure oriented defense. Other than these two years, he was only average.

Wiley is a clear example of an average player who was the product of a good coaching style.
