Positives: Has NFL size. Excellent hustle, plays through the whistle on every snap. Sustains blocks as well as any player in this class, gets his strong hands up quickly and keeps his arms extended to manhandle his defender once engaged. Very good anchor in pass protection despite his height and athletic frame. Nice fit in a zone-blocking system, and will be able to pull and trap effectively behind the line with nimble feet. Competition at the East-West Shrine Game was not too much for him.

Negatives: Plays with his pads high and must play with more knee-bend to succeed at the next level. Has difficulty with speed on the outside and quick hands when lined up inside. Bad pass protection posture (bends at waist) and short strides coming out of his kick-slide allow defenders to rip off him too easily. Lunges at defenders in the second level, instead of moving his feet to reach them. Must work on getting low and putting his hands onto man's numbers in short-yardage situations.

So he is tough, athletic, aggressive and hustles, but needs coaching. Good for the 4th round, I would say.

Good pick. It is nice to see that Jason Garrett has enough influence to change Jerry's natural inclination to go for excitement rather than the boring picks like offensive linemen who probably aren't going to have any immediate impact.

I think the Cowboys' best chance to win another Super Bowl begins with keeping Romo upright and healthy. If we can build a good offensive line before Romo gets too old or too beat up, we can get to the promised land.

This is the part I like. Bigg look like he always hustles to you?

The days of the big lumbering mauler in Dallas are over. With this draft the direction is clearly towards a more athletic OL going forward.

This doesn't feel like a "special teams" draft to me at all. The Cowboys are drafting productive, athletic football players with upside. I LOVE drafting athletic offensive linemen. Bet that's all Garrett.

Agreed, this is not like the special teams draft at all. Everyone knew what those guys were capable of when we drafted them, and then tried to justify it by saying they're great special teamers. Murray was reminiscent of that draft--nothing against the player, I do like him alot but there were starters available--but everyone else actually has starter potential

I'm very excited that we're finally moving that direction. I'm tired of the lack of agility across our line (except for Free and Kosier).

Heard the conference call, Arkin sounds very excited to be a cowboy, Houck asked if he liked to hit people..

ESPN

What he brings: Arkin is a physical, mean lineman who played tackle in college but will be a guard in the NFL. He doesn't have elite athleticism but does show enough foot quickness to become a solid starter at the next level.

How he fits: Both starters Leonard Davis and Kyle Kosier could easily be replaced and there is not much depth behind them. This OL could use a complete makeover and Arkin should start as a swing OG but it will be disappointing if he doesn't eventually move into a starting role.

Bigg looks like he's incapable of hustling anymore. lol

My only hope is that with the renewed emphasis on full contact in running game practice the OL will show huge improvement,,,

I like Kosier but this guy sounds like an ideal replacement.

That would be a plus for sure.

I'm satisfied with where we are for this year...After this season, we'll know whether or not we need to start looking for Center and another OG or we might be set for a while.

yeah I don't care who it is that starts, as long as whoever it is, looks good and really earns it by playing and practicing well instead of getting paid a lot.

What'd you expect? Randy Moss in the 4th round?
Look, not saying I hate it, and obviously will defer to the members on here who know more about these players than me. Just saying I was hyped after round 1 thinking we would get 3 starters from first 3 rounds. Thought there was good guards available in 2nd etc. D-ends...Seems like we took alot of developmental 2-3 year guys, not imediate plug in and play guys. Plus I wanted Salas in the 4th : ) Hope the scouts had the imput we think and not our old friend larry. I will take the wait and see attitude, - like any of us have any other choice anyway.

I just listened to his interview and he didn't say anything like this.
