Irving left practice after the Washington game with an ankle sprain. Although he was
carted off the field, the initial diagnosis had reported the sprain to be on the mild side of the scale – sighs of relief abound. Ankle sprains can take from two weeks up to eight weeks before a player is ready to return. He passed the eight-week threshold against Indianapolis on Sunday.
Within that time frame, and with the caveat that a recovery is different for everyone, many players are already back to practice, working on resistance cords and often going through scout team work for up to a couple weeks before making it back to the big club.
Irving has, reportedly, not been around. He reportedly hasn’t been attending meetings. He reportedly hasn’t been rehabbing with the club. There are possible explanations for the latter, such as rehabbing with his own trainers, which are perfectly acceptable. It doesn’t account for not showing up to The Star.
