David Irving Instagram Post

Holding happens on every play. What I saw was our defense linemen unable to get off a block and not having the skill set/technique to break away from defenders holding them. Oh, there are ways you can prevent that. Maybe our defensive lineman are too scared to employ such methods or they haven't been taught the proper technique.
I think it's called excessive force for yanking on a face mask. Bout the only way he could have beat that one. Looked like the South Park episode when they raped Indiana jones, did he have to change jerseys after that?

In the picture he posted - the one I saw - I saw the Packers player with his hands inside the shoulders.
On the picture you posted, look at the Irving's left shoulder, and the glove on it as he's getting grabbed from behind

We kind of have to be, don't we? What other reasonable option is there, other than to just give up on watching the games if you think the bias is overwhelming the outcomes.

I hate the blame officiating stuff, even when there is an obvious bad call like there was in the 2014 game. At the same time, I do agree the league has a big officiating problem, and I do agree that there are certain teams, Green Bay and Pittsburgh most notably, that really do seem to get the benefit of some outrageous doubt. Not just when they play Dallas, either. I'm not sure why it is, but it doesn't really matter. In this one way, we need to be more like NE, who just takes the hits and finds better-different-smarter-other ways to work around and stay competitive. I'm sick of losing close games and then hearing it's about a holding penalty or a (stupid) unsportsmanlike conduct call. Just win anyway, or don't and we can become like Lions fans.

At this point, I've given up on the NFL, to be honest.

There is no other reason that you can't employ full-time officials other than plausible deniability. When there's an intention to overcomplicate a simple solution, question the motive.

Same reason I don't tune in to any NFL games anymore. If I watch, I stream. If they care about improving the product which has become an error riddled 3 hour commercial with some football thrown in, I'll gladly tune in.

Obviously, I'll be here, but it's become obvious that in the face of egregious officiating, your chances of winning are too greatly proportioned to how officiating just feels like calling it. If they're semi biased for a team, or they just for some reason would prefer you not to win, you won't. Simple as that. There's too much parity.

I don't really get why fans think this is some sort of "conspiracy". If you don't think that's a possibility, let me ask you a question. Why would they not attempt to sway an outcome? Ratings? No. Even last year when Dallas was terrible they still managed to boost the cap, what, 10 million? So, why wouldn't they?

I mean, they obviously cared so much about the integrity of the game that they hired a guy with no real experience as the Supreme Master of Officiating.

I'm going to root for my boys, and i'll be doing my usual thang here, but in the back of my mind I'll know that if on any given day they feel like sending us home, they'll gladly call a lopsided game and just shrug their shoulders afterwards.

I get this anger but let's also be fair here and admit we got away with some stuff in that game too. There were two CLEAR holds on Packers WRs that went uncalled. One was a blatant hold.

I tend to think it's not that the league is out to get us. I think it's that officiating has just gotten crappier over the years and teams that have noteworthy players like a Brady or Rodgers tend to get some benefit of the doubt.

Also, I think Garrett hurts us here too. He's too soft on the sidelines. Someone posted a study a week or so ago that shows some correlation between getting calls and being a real %$# on the sideline towards officials.

Generally I agree. Is there some historical penalty bias against Dallas? The stats say so. However, we put ourselves - down 21-3 - in a situation where we basically had to play a perfect last 2 1/2 quarters of football. Meaning there wasn't any room for error for penalties, called or uncalled, clock management - spike vs. TO vs. play, or questionable play calling - such as not running on 2nd and short or 3rd and short. Really we are left only to nitpick some of these things that really shouldn't have potentially mattered.

The refs were garbage plain and simple. I'm tired of all this fake 'be a great sport and don't say anything if the refs screw you' rhetoric. They missed calls on both sides, but they conveniently wiped away several of our big plays with penalties while not doing the same for Green Bay, so no, the reffing wasn't equally bad on both sides. The refs smiling and chatting with Aaron Rodgers after calling a penalty on us should tell you all you need to know. Let's not mention when they threw the flag after we had a big play and had to convene before picking the flag up because there was nothing there. It's as if they throw the flag on our big plays and later decide if they want to call something.

fix the defense all you want but if we (Jerry) don't address this prevailing issue of NFL refs screwing this team we'll go nowhere.

Youre 100% correct, this is a game of inches and the refs gutted us for miles.

First they have to acknowledge THERE IS A PROBLEM.

I thought we were the NFL darlings.

Fans never can accept the fact that their team just wasn't good enough to advance in the playoff.

The Packers beat us the same way they beat us in 2014. PERIOD!

We are not the darlings. We were back in the day, but since Jerry went on his own in the marketing area and actually went counter suit against the NFL, Jerry and the Cowboys has been getting screwed. You can talk loud and proud that "it doesn't matter shut up and accept your fate", but it's possible to say we didn't play well enough and deserved to lose AND the league is porking us. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Anyone who watches these games, and looks at things like Romo's roughing the passer calls, or saw the Pittsburgh-Seattle Super Bowl, or the call made to prevent KC from their 2 pt conversion, cannot try to defend that there isn't something at least suspicious going on.

Maybe someone needs to tell Irving that you can hold inside the numbers and the shoulders. Maybe someone needs to teach him to develop moves to break such holds.
What was that you were saying?
Same play, different angle

You could look for years and not find a hold worse than that. Held by two different players and one looks like the "blocker" is riding Irving piggy-back and with his arms wrapped around him..
Can't even begin to make up a no call that bad.

That's not saying it fully determined the outcome of anything but that play. But come, how is it possible not to call that?

Indeed, because a missed hold and calls we don't like are prima facie evidence of a league-wide conspiracy against the NFL's wealthiest franchise.

This would be a great point if there was evidence that the NFL still wasn't raking in cash when Dallas sucked.

All the NFL needs is for the Cowboys to remain in Dallas. That's it.

Seriously, take off the ref glasses, they are making you blind. Irvin was being violated front and back on that play with the guy on his back riding him to the ground.

Haha, I do. Didnt used to, but yeah.

One day I asked myself, what obligation do they have to be fair? Why would they be? When there's no oversight, people tend to do whatever they want.

This isn't the Supreme Court of the United States, they aren't swearing on the bible. They're the NFL, a bunch of rich dudes.

This is a good point, but I just find it hard to believe that there is literally zero accountability for these people. I mean there has to be some point at which their superior (Blandino or whoever the refs directly report to if not him) must take disciplinary action. I guess we just haven't reached it yet.

I like you. Please post more.
