You know the knucklehead bought it legally in L.A. and didn't even know it was a felony in Texas.

Sadly its probably the world they grew up in. Thinking having a gun is cool.

You would think when they get out of it all, they would be happy for a new type of life.
Culture (the gangster rap culture in particular) can and does cause a lot of problems…don’t get why people haven’t figured out that it’s regressive.

You're right his career is over. Carrying a gun and having a drug that 99% of NFL players take is going to ruin it for him. You people are what's wrong with this country. Guilty until proven innocent.

Calm down, I never said that. The hyperbole is adorable though.

Well what else is next. It seems like just when things are looking up for this team Overshown gets hurt and now Williams gets into trouble.

Never got the memo that it was cool to be a gangster.

Star Telegram is reporting it was THC (can't link). THC isn't the same as marijuana and both are illegal in Texas. While THC is a derivative of marijuana, it's made in a concentrate form which is considered a controlled substance here in Texas and 1 gram is a felony with 1+ being a third degree felony. It was no more than a vape pen which are legal in 23 states and is no different than smoking a joint. It's a cleaner joint that doesn't stink, burn holes in your upholstery, can be consumed discretely, and smoked more than once. Texas is hard on this though and people can serve anywhere from 6 months to 2 years in prison for it. We'll have to hope Sam's pen was close to empty and that his judge values his $$$ via fines more than his jail time which is common in these cases. Who wants to incarcerate a 24 year old kid over a joint?
How do these morons get busted with this stuff?

Clark taking a leap could prove to be more impactful to the defense than either of them. Its not like the hopes of our season were riding on Overshown and Williams.

Texas, like most states, does not have gun registration.
It’s shocking how many people here of all places don’t understand gun laws.

Anyone who owns a gun should know this stuff.

Anyone with a cc permit has no excuse for not knowing it since you learn it during the certification process.

There are no registered guns in Texas because … there is no gun registry.

People assume that the background check you get when you buy from a licensed firearms dealer is some sort of registration … it’s not.

You can buy a gun on the street, be given a gun by a friend or inherit one from your grand pappy and don’t even need to tell anyone.

This is Texas.

As long as it’s not full auto, sawed off or an explosive, you’re good to go and the government doesn’t care … as long as you don’t partake of the devils lettuce.

Why do you think he actually got arrested for controlled substance (marjaunna?),..if there was " nuthin wrong with it ?
Why do you think he actually got arrested for weapon charges... if there was " nuthin' wrong with it? "

As politically disagreeable as you think these Texas laws are,.. fact is it's still the law.

Willing to bet Sam isn't getting charged for 'open carry " as there is no longer a permit needed for open carry in Texas.
(so long as it is not in or upon restricted no-gun allowed properties) but more so that gun was not legally registered.
Gun registration doesn’t exist in Texas

Recent appellate court ruled this was a violation of the Constitution. If I understand correctly that court does not cover Texas, but it still sets a precedent that will likely have to go to the Supreme Court to get settled once and for all.

Wow, THC is illegal in Texas?

It's not even illegal here in Alabama. Heck, my doctor told me to take it for my TMJ disorder.
