2004: carries 16-20 35 for 82 2.3ypc carries 21-25 30 for 100 3.3
carries 26-30 19 for 121 6.4 carries 31+ 3 for 6 2.0

2005: 41-136 3.3 23-115 5.0 7-31 4.4 4-8 2.0

So those stats show no reall correlation as regards carries vs gain.
It just depended on the game situation, the defense, and how good the line blocking was. Just like it is for most backs.

THESE are the stats for LT this year
carries 16-20 62 for 377 6.1
carries 21-25 35 for 111 3.2
carries 26-30 12 for 40 3.3
carries 31+ 1 for 2 2.0
So clearly LT wore down after 20 carries.
Though its interesting to note that in his rookie year JJ was doing 6.4 yds per carry on rushes 26-30; and in his second year carries 21-25 avg 5.0

In 2005 LT averaged 7.3 ypc in rushes 21-25 and dropped off badly after that. in 2004 he was bad at 16-25 but was better after that. So there really is not much to be said is there?

Julius Jones games splits:

ATTEMPTS 1-THROUGH-10 - 160 Att for 635 Yards 4.0YPC
ATTEMPTS 11-THROUGH-20 - 90 Att for 400 Yards 4.3YPC
ATTEMPTS 21-THROUGH-30 - 17 Att for 49 Yards 2.9YPC

Those splits shoot a hole in your "He gets hot early, or not at all" argument seeing how carries 11-20 are his best. If he was so hot early, wouldn't 1-10 be his best?

Edit: I'll add another...

1st Half - 151 Att for 618 Yards 4.1YPC
2nd Half - 116 Att for 466 Yards 4.0YPC

Man, he sure is a lot hotter early in games.

after watching that video,, which is great btw, thanks for whoever put it together, I noticed that on almost every run, JJ would studder step and cut before he got to the line. I don't remember him doing that all last year,, just ran to the hole. I think that is coaching. If Wade will let JJ run with his own style.. he will be fine. I think JJ has the chance to be a very good back.

And people wanna get rid of him.

The kid deserves this year to show us he is the starter for years to come.

I was under the impression he had the three previous years...

WOW

I just watched the video and it proved what I've been saying time and time again. If anyone touches JJ (more than just grazing him) he is down for the count! All those long runs in that video were because he wasn't touched!

Jerry, bring in the next running back please! My grandmother could have run through those gigantic holes with her walker and made more yards.

I could make a highlight film of Troy Freakin' Hambrick that would knock your socks off. And we all know he sucked.
I challenge you to do that. I have $100 that says you can't and you're wrong.

I think he could.

But it would be all one game, against the Commanders.

You people make me feel like im taking crazy pills.

Jones average for carries 15+ in a game was 3.5 yards

All of last season in all those 100 yard games he had that make you think he needs the ball more he was AWFUL after 15 carries. He either gets hot early or not at all.

Great point my man. JuJones is middling at best. It is hard to fathom why some around here so adore this guy. The only reason I can think of is that they let emotion take over and the heck with the facts.

Good point, please also note, that the Skins run D was horrid last season, everyone ran through them like a hot knife through butter.

For the eight millionth time Jones average after 14 carries is 3.5 yards. When he is used correctly he truly is an explosive player but what he is not is durable.

Im not saying get rid of him but feeding him the ball more is not the answer. Limit his carries to 10 a game and he will be lights out in the carries he gets. Give him 20 and he gets hurt and misses a lot of time or gets dinged like last year and loses effectiveness.

i know it would be great if he could maintain that with 300 carries in a year but it just isnt going to happen.

Post this again, because no one will get the point.

They will just watch his rookie year again and keep on dreaming.

Most backs wear down after twenty, twenty five, thirty carries.

There were few that got stronger as they went along. Emmitt Smith, Earl Campbell, Jim Brown and Herschel Walker would wear defenses down.

What imbecile wants to equate Julius Jones to that type of running back?

You are letting your hate for J.J cloud your reading skills... He was obviously referring to Troy Hambrick and his games against the Commanders that year where he almost had 200 that game.

They said after 15 carries, not 25-30. 30 total carries a game is normal. All it means is he will never be a full time back. I'm just hoping he won't be a Cowboy next year.
