Deebo Samuel traded to Washington

I'd rather use a fifth-round pick on a proven player than use picks on unproven ones who may turn out more like Tolbert or Brooks than Samuel, especially when we have other needs. The draft is no guarantee of success.

Who's your sure-bet fifth-round draft pick who is going to be better than Deebo?
I mean it’s tough to say. It also depends on the team. If you are the Cowboys they don’t need to spend resources on a broken down number 2 receiver known for his running.

the guys body is breaking down and he’s getting worse and worse. I would’ve waited for him to be cut personally.

He played 15 games but he was hurt and just played in some of those games. His body has been breaking down.

49ers were going to cut him. They had no intentions of having him on the books for next year. So to get a 5th for a guy they were gonna cut? A W.

Deebo is not a good fun receiver to just utilize as a route runner. His value is his running ability as well.

For Commanders it’s not terrible but I would’ve held out for a better receiver.
Oh c'mon, we've all seen the way this front office works deals. You're not allowed to get anything for a guy you were planning to cut anyway. You have to just keep paying them until their contract is up.

Deebo put those stats up as a number 1. Aiyuk only played 7 games last year.

As far as our number 2 goes…why would anyone want to waste 21 million and a 5th on Deebo or Cooks? I’d rather draft a guy.

In six years Deebo has had 1 season or 1k yards. Now if Deebo got cut and we got him at a reduced salary I for sure would look into it. The guys whole game is physicality and he’s always hurt or hobbled.
I'm still hopeful that we'll sign someone like Diggs in free agency. He'll be cheaper coming off injury, but it's hard to say how well he'll come off injury. I don't really want to spend an early pick on a receiver because of other areas we need to address, and we've seen that taking one from the third round on does not mean you are going to get a starter. (For what it's worth, there's no guarantees in the first or second either.)

I certainly would take the shot for a 5th. On the decline or not he is a known commodity on a draft pick that has less than a 50/50 chance of success. I sure am relieved we have the HOF GM that we do. It must be hard to compete with our negotiations and trades for the rest of the league.

I like the idea of Washington wasting almost $22 million in salary cap space on a broken down, often injured receiver. I only hope they give him an even larger contract!
I try not to post here too much. But we Skins fans dont have a board anymore. We have the cap space to take a chance on Deebo being Deebo. And it is a one year thing. Possible he balls out in his contract. Possible he doesnt. But the cap means nothing.

I mean it’s tough. Because if this is a “win now” year then yeah you’d want a vet. No rookie will come right in and do what a contender needs.

Deebo would’ve been perfectly fine if he didn’t cost a pick or the salary. Diggs could be that guy.

I mean for me I heard rumors of Higgins which was scary. I’d much rather you guys have Higgins then Deebo.

Correction we have a HOF Owner.

He completely sucks as a GM.

What you want will never happen unless complete rock bottom happens.

Every year Jerry has this "right around the rim" or "if not for the injuries" BS excuses.

We need it to be definitive. We need rock bottom.
You are probably right, but I prefer to wait and see rather than assume it. If our approach to free agency is the usual one, which I do expect, then I agree that rock bottom is the best chance of changing that. But I'm not sure that will even work. Last year was a major disappointment to the Joneses. If that doesn't cause them to change, I don't know if anything will.

Remember Jerry had a high draft evaluation for him, just like did on Trance.

Never mind formulating a new evaluation of his actually performance in the NFL.
The thing is….they didn’t even have a high grade on Lance lol. They actually were on the smart side of things for once and still traded for him which I don’t mind them doing but they possibly over traded for him.

I did not say they had a Niners grade. I believe the had a 3rd, so trading a 4th on paper made sense to Jethro.

Just an idea for our HOF GM. When an NFL player is being considered for a trade, do not go back and look at his Draft grade. Maybe you should actually evaluate his NFL performance over the last few seasons.
