No one is starting Dak besides the Cowboys man
Out of all the starting QBs in the league. If we put Dak on the block, we would have calls for Dak from about 20 of them. Please just stop. Put down the agenda and look at the numbers. The kid wins. Doesnt matter how.

Right, let's compare their stats for the year. One is a 3 yr starter and the other is a rookie starter. I know which one I'm going with.
This is a troll comment. Sorry, but it is clear it is. Anyone will miss a pass, why did you even create this thread?

Mahomes 264 completions, 67.5% completion, 3628 yards, 9.28 yards/attempt, 37 pass TDs, 17 (int/fumbles combined)

Prescott 243 completions, 66.8% completion, 2675 yards, 7.35 yards/attempt, 14 pass TDs, 16 (int/fumbles combined)

You're going to compare Mahomes to Dak because Mahomes missed a pass, but he misses passes by actually throwing the ball instead of settling for checkdowns. Settles for checkdowns and still takes more sacks, fumbles, and a lower completion percentage.
the one fact that people don't get is that all QBs miss. it happened to Brady too. but they make more plays than they miss. Dak misses more plays than he makes. that's the whole point.

By definition the QB I posted for comparison on the 1 (one) deep pass had to be one with better stats and a better rating by fans/media.

I would not post that Brandon Weeden missed a deep pass.

Dak is not a dink-and-dunk QB unless you also consider Tom Brady to be a dink-and-dunk QB.

Yards Per Completion:

Dak Career: 7.4
Dak 2018: 8.0

Tom Brady Career: 7.5
Tom Brady 2018: 7.7
how many total pass attempts? how many completions past 15 yards? past 20 yards? past 30 yards? how many pass attempts down field? how many total passing yards? how many TDs? when you throw partial stats to compare QBs over all work, its like watching a movie through the key hole.....

in your wet dreams...... its Dak lovers made up number to make an argument.... the kid wins or the TEAM wins. this past game we won despite the offense...not because of the offense.....80% completion rate....whoop dee doo.... we scored 13. fumbled on the opponents 16 when we needed to put the game away. if not for this defense, it would have been a total embarrassment.....

and its funny all you Dak lovers want to give him credit and in the meantime the Dallas offensive MVP, Zeke is not mentioned one bit in all of this....Dak without zeke is 3-3. Dak when Zeke doesn't perform well is 1-4. lets chew on those for a while.

Jason Garrett is 0-how many without Zeke? I understand its a team sport, but I think wins and losses fall on the coaching staff especially in this scheme. Zeke is a game changer no doubt. Before that Atlanta game last year Dak was playing really good football. After his coaching staff let him get sacked 8 times, he was never the same. They actually brought this up during the broadcast.

The point of pointing out an unquestionably great QB overthrowing the ball is not to say that Dak is also an unquestionably great QB, it’s to say that all QBs overthrow the ball. Geez.

Right or wrong Dak Prescott seems to miss more passes than other franchise quarterbacks. And unless I'm mistaken this is exactly how the braintrust views him. His resume isn't filled with great quarterback play that will allow him that type of latitude when critiquing him.... at least that's the way I see it.
Exactly. You don't question the ones who have performed because it is "abnormal" for them to make the mistake.

Why can't everyone move on from the "let's look at a small slice of being a QB" and try to justify a view point from there? There are 44 regular season games under his belt now. If you think he is a franchise QB, what can be said to convince you that he isn't that you haven't had opportunity to see for yourself?

If you don't think he is a franchise QB (or at least critique the things he must improve on to become one), nothing can be said to convince you the flaws don't exist.

So, lets put aside all the "well, everyone misses passes", "his X stat is as good as anyone", discussions and just focus on is he capable of being a consistent top 15 or better QB. Look around the league. Look at what it really means to play the position (not just components of playing the position) at that level. That is the question and answer that will determine this franchises fate for the next 5-7 years, minimum.

I saw Mahomes over-throw a wide open receiver by 5 yards.

The receiver (TE) was on the right sideline similar to the Gallup play but the KC TE was even more open.

QBs do miss deep passes...
WHAT!?!

NO. FREAKIN'. WAY!!

Impossible........ ;)

Dak's our QB. We're going to have to deal with it.

He's not Wentz, he's not Goff, he's not Mahomes, etc. He'll never be as refined as a passer as any of them.

Find a way to win with him. Play to his strengths. This coaching staff doesn't do that. If they can't change, find one that will.

the same coaching staff has zeke. was Atlanta game a failure? yes. but why is Dak not the same after a tough game. a lot of QBs go through similar bad games and recover and move on. Should we expect Brees to struggle rest of season as he had the worst game of his career. bad days happen in the NFL. if Dak didn't recover from that game, Dak is also responsible.

and again, the Dak lover crowd, is pointing fingers at everybody else, except Dak. just refusing to say that Dak is also responsible and he is not all that....now its a team sport and coaches are responsible and now the coaches are responsible for Dak falling apart after a particularly bad game. and if Dak is not the same, then you know what, he is done. lets manage him (which the coaches are doing), protect him and lets look for the next franchise QB. Aikman went through a 1-15 season where he was abused through out the season. He bounced back.

now I am sure the next response is that Dak is a 4th rounder and Aikman is a top pick, so lets excuse Dak.

Im not excusing Dak. He needs to work on a lot of things himself. However, its hilarious that some of you people think that Kellen Moore was the right person to bring in to help Dak correct the things he needed to. After last season he was exposed, and we did nothing to help him until the bye week of this year.

I don't like Kellen Moore. that was a mistake. But Kellen has been in that role only this season. Dak needs a lot of help to succeed.

Dak is the most crticized QB of the NFL and the dude has a winning record. People are never satisfied. It's baffling. Year 3, young and developing. What do peole not get about that.
Young and developing basic skills like footwork and being able to deliver the ball to all parts of the field with some accuracy. These are no the things one expects a franchise QB to have to learn, so I'm not sure why it's baffling.
