Defensive Backs Combine Numbers

LOL

Mine will happen tonight.

You better explain your guys like usual, that's the best part of your mocks.

I need to work on mine too.

Did you ever see what Cason ran?

Football players don't play without their pads. 40 time is a gauge but he doesn't look slow on film. Everson Walls didn't run a great 40 but he's an ALL Pro. Don't get fixated on 40's.

People who run a fast 40 may not be able to play football worth a damn, ie. Goodrich.
People who compare 40 times from pre-2000 just don't understand 40 times. All 40 times are faster today than they were then because there's a much bigger market for speed training during the post-season. Throw out all those "Jerry Rice only ran a 4.6" comments, because they're meaningless. If he'd trained with today's trainers he might have broken a 4.3.

Mayock making excuses for Flowers, his #1 corner.

I can't believe he's still pushing a mid 4.5 CB as his #1 CB after DRC just tore it up. I'm still waiting to hear from him about his #2 ranked WR Manningham who still hasn't reached the finish line.

How is the combine over? They are doing real drills now, the 40 is just part of it.

Haha, the whole reporting group is just destroying the validity of a timed turn and run drill.

I'm a PSU fan. King's a real enigma. That forty time is real impressive, and he's real smooth. A terrific athlete. He certainly looks like a top flight corner, but doesn't play like it.

He got eaten up by James Hardy this year, and Robiskie from OSU. I don't know what to make of him. Poor instincts or bad coaching?

i'm a lifelong psu fan and current season ticket holder.

the biggest issue with king was definitely the system.

psu plays a soft zone and all the corners play 10 yards off the ball.

it is very tough not to give up big plays in a system like that, especially when you get ****ty safety help over the top.

i would definitely take king with our second round pick if we missed out on guys in the 1st round.

I don't know how people could conclude that the CB class is slow, I've seen about a dozen sub-4.45 forties.

I thought I saw McKelvin at 4.35 in his second run in an NFLN graphic.

Check that: according to this site, 17 sub-4.45 forty times. That's phenomenol.

I noticed that too. It does seem a little odd they would time something like that as the announcers pointed out, some guys are turning earlier then others

huh? you play 10 yds off so you don't get burned with safety help but still get you *** handed to you? I don't want a player like that. He maybe a great athlete but if he can't play football I don't want him. If you think he can be developed, then pick him in the 7th round. that's where developmental prospects are picked not 2nd round.

I don't know. I've watched Talib a few times and maybe it's his quickness that didn't jump out at me, but he didn't look 4.4 fast. Where as Flowers looked much quicker and faster in the 2 games I seen him play. Maybe their game speed is different, or just initial quickness and suddeness, but during games, Flowers looks faster than Talib.

cromartie looked pretty good in that drill. looked pretty fluid and went up higher then all so far to get the ball.

Holy crap, is Talib ever going to live down the Jordy Nelson TD? They are STILL talking about it, Mayock hates this kid.

He had a terrible season, though. Beware the workout warrior.

King did run 4.31, but everyone KNEW he was probably gonna run a 4.3 to begin with, so not much has changed, he's likely a mid to late 2nd rounder.
I love him though, he's still raw with good upside, if we could get him or Charles Godfrey in round 2 I'd love it.

I think he'd make a pretty good FS.
