Defensively Dallas belongs in the Super Bowl, but the offense is suspect

40-0 is unreal the very first game on the road in the NFL. With that said, the entire NFL will fear this defense.

The offense, on the other hand, looked suspect and out of sync. Dak had that deer in the headlights look. He was ridiculously over throwing his receivers.

Your thoughts?
The defense was a Superbowl caliber defense last year but we know how that season ended.

Defense looked very good. Offense looked like an offense that hadn’t taken tons of real game live action reps together but they haven’t so…I think 1 week isn’t enough of a sample at all to make glowing comments or bad comments about either side of the ball.

Can't say I saw any of this, not sure what you're referring to. I think that last night's offense must be judged in the light of zero pre-season playtime and torrential rain. Either way, the next few games will of course reveal more.

We scored points on 5 out of 7 offensive drives before Rush same in for clean-up.

On the drives that ended in field goals, Dak hit receivers in their hands who dropped them. He had 2-3 passing TDs that should have been caught.

This on the road, in the pouring rain, in the first game in a new offence, with no pre-season.

I feel pretty ok about the offense.

Tough to make an offensive judgement with those weather conditions. Dak had a couple throws that got away from him, but what QB doesnt? He also had quite a few drops from his TEs yesterday that probably would have made the offensive views different.

Bottom line the offense was pretty efficient and didnt turn the ball over. They didnt need a 300 yard, multiple td performance from Dak.

Wet field, wet ball, rained the entire game.......have you ever played in those conditions?
No preseason games.
Several drop, probably because of the rain. I think I'll withhold judgement for a bit.

This is true. However, the weather and the nature of the game were strange, so I'll give them a break.

Next week will tell us more.

I have and it sucks. Everything is slippery. The ball, the guys you’re trying to block or tackle. Your footing.

I’m surprised the offense played as “clean” as they did. To be honest.

The offense is suspect they drove down the field and punched it in either with a field goal or a run game there were some drop passes but really we were outdoors in the rain in a hostile environment game one with no preseason

and by the way if you wanna nitpick something our defense got ran over and they got bailed out on that first drive by the special teams play.. You can look all over the field there are plays even in this game that could be gone in and the coaches can teach some players things they did wrong even a 40 nothing blowout but stop saying it looks suspect because it was outdoors in the rain you know how many times Troy let teams were this is what it looked like this is exactly what Laura aikman's teams on offense looked like you had Emmitt Smith finishing drives you had field goals you had defenses shutting people down this is what team play is so coming on here and calling out the offense it's ridiculous and I'm calling you out this was a team win TEAM..

This offense looked like most of the NFL offenses who failed to play their starters in preseason.

I think this post is ridiculous.

Not sure if that answers your question or not.
No it wasn't. Good gawd, the homers here are insane.

The offense was rough, not sure what the weather. McCarthy seems like he knows this team has to win with defense.

Next week will tell a lot more.

I've coached in it, it changes you entire gameplan.

it was a deluge. We can't gage Dak based off that. Next weeks game, yes. This is the litmus test. If we let the Jets come in here and beat us, the Dak questions will rear their ugly heads again. He must understand this.

It did, but wow.

The 49ers looked incredible on both sides of the ball. They were in midseason form.

Did you watch the game? New offense, pouring rain, first time starters played.....
Apparently he didn't he needed something to whine about but he doesn't understand is I guarantee you go back and you watch a lot of the 90s teams and the 70s teams there were games that looked just like this and I bet the quarterbacks weren't called out for having crappy stats or the offense for not dominating when they didn't need to..

What happened to all those people who said I wish we could have our offense match our defenses energy and not take high risk plays like Kellen Moore did and just go with the flow of the game eat clock call plays that matched the energy of the game flow and that means you're not gonna be out in the rain outdoors in a game where you didn't need a lot of points or a lot of yards and Chuck it all over the yard that's something I've seen Jason Garrett and Kellen Moore do but this was a great game call playing in game adjustments as the game went on they literally started treating this like practice and scrimmage they were calling plays that they wanted to practice they didn't get a chance to do a preseason that's what was going on here maybe some people are clueless I noticed this they started calling plays that they didn't need to call just a practice that play with those package of players they normally wouldn't have probably brought in the game..

For sure now we pick on an offense for not having a big stat day but I thought stats didn't matter and only wins matter. I believe that Kellen Moore would have been calling plays he'd have been throwing the ball all over the field even up by 28 and that's what he does and he would have allowed more clock and he probably would have allowed an interception or a fumble and change the games ending because he likes throwing the football..

Just like Jason Garrett did at a game I was at at AT&T with the Detroit Lions and we were up by I don't know 27 points and they kept throwing the football until three interceptions later in a late field goal and we lose the game leading by over 24 points in the fourth quarter because they threw the ball all over just trying to look pretty..
